everyone thanks for joining me in the studio today I am so glad that the weather is finally getting nice and with nicer weather and springtime for me comes lots of barbecue that means lots of family lots of outdoor fun lots of picnics and one thing I love to do is decorate I love to decorate the table and you know just make it fun for everybody and add a little bit of festivity so today's project I'm going to show you how to create a fabric yo yo and then we're going to use that yo-yo to decorate a little candle votive it's super easy super quick and it's a great way to add a little bit of festivity to your entertaining to make our fabric yoyo you'll need a circle of fabric and this is a really great project if you have scraps of fabric laying around you can see that I've cut this into a circle and we're going to be working on the opposite side you're going to need a needle and thread and then what you're going to do is you're going to fold this edge over like this and stitch all the way around and I've already started that on this one over here so just fold those edges over and take a little running stitch until you've gone all the way around your circle once you've gone all the way around with your stitches and you still have your thread attached what you'll do next is you'll begin to gather so just pull on your string and gather the fabric around till the beginning not and you'll need to work this tighter and tighter until you have your finished little yoyo and of course you're going to going to tie this thread off and then clip off the excess thread there so when you get finished we're actually going to be using a bigger one and this is the 1 i'm going to use because it matches the project better okay now once you have your yo-yo completed we're going to use that to decorate our candle and what I've done is I've selected a strip of fabric I don't even know what kind of fabric this is all I know is that it was cheap and it frays a lot so it adds lots of really fun texture and I've gathered each end and you can't see it but there's a little piece of clear scotch tape here so I'm just going to wrap the fabric around the votive and tape it down nobody's going to see the tape and this doesn't have to last forever just has to last for the evening right I have also added a little glue dot on the back of my yo-yo so put that down there and I've added a little glue dot on the back of my button that down right over the yo-yo and in no time you've got a great little decorated candle for your table if you want to make this project even quicker just check out the fabric department in your local craft store and you can buy these yo-yos already made well that's going to wrap it up for me today remember you can get the project instructions on the website i'm linda peterson i'll be back again real soon to give you more ideas to keep living a creative life because i think it's cool to craft you
