another video from board of engineering today I'm gonna try to fix a lighting problem that I have with my Ford Falcon so this is a Ford Falcon BF 2006 model and the problem that I have a few of them all electrical and the first issue is my auto so it doesn't work so I'm gonna have the headlights on auto it doesn't work it doesn't detect anything you were turn the headlights on and off with when you know unique when it becomes dark or you go to tunnel and the second problem which is that's not that that's very important you can you can still use it in manual and the second problem is that my lighting and or as the manufacturer manual called illumination in instrument cluster which is the pretty much the odometer here and also the illumination in the command center doesn't work so at nights when you turn the headlights on there is no light in here or in Auto Meter so you cannot see your speed or anything there everything is off obviously I know what you're going to say check the fuse that's the first thing I did I checked all the fuses and according to my owners manual for fourth Falcon I so this is the fuse and relay box for the instrument panel which is which is here um I checked and relevant fuses which are pretty much 29 and 27 now they were all healthy and that didn't help no so I did check the fuse box and what we called the engine compartment and everything was healthy I checked the relays as well nothing was wrong and one thing could go wrong with these these sort of issues is the they called the combination switch the combination switch is basically your indicator switch and sorry this is my library and in European car that would be the indicator and my indicator so these two basically join together here and they call the combination switch sometimes this can things can go wrong with that so what I did I opened the plastic cover which is this and it had some three screws there and that's the bottom of it and I just traced all the virus why is that I thought are going to my combinations which are controlling the eliminations and lighting and guess what I found the issue the problem is if you can see here now huh yep as you can see these two wires are cut off why bad design so after a while I did a bit of research apparently and you get this issue hey J so as I said in sugar these two wires here you might get this the issue like somewhere else tan and next to the socket mail socket now okay what I just found which is a mix that fix a lot easier and this the whole thing it's not focusing the whole thing in this indicator piece it's not that one piece it ever apparently there's several pieces and what I did behind there was it um it's another part plastic bit here and it just clicks in and out so I took managed to pull it and from the stick and now I have the wires divided our cut of the red and and gray so I need to i dint get the red and gray here and so there are other bits of wire to this and extend it that that should fix the illumination and also the auto auto sensor for for the light as you can see what I did i soldered to wire because you cannot just use it electrical tape and put it together first you only have a few centimeter wire left there so you don't have much room to play with it and second it won't be strong enough now solder these and to that end I'm going to put the heat shrink around it and then I'm going to solder this to this invisible and as you can see over time and the indicator search or the stick to be true through this and as you can see nothing's left of this protective shield so it started chewing through the wires that's why I lost my auto light sensor and also illumination okay so I sold at both ends and he trained them you see here tonight and they're so purposely I added a bit extra wire so it can be lowest soil and next time wouldn't be so tight and I'll try to put some sort of shield link like what it was before here not previously night nothing left of it put some sort of shielding there and then put it back together see if it works so I put everything back together and and just going to test it it's dark night um this little sweet tender switch on to second position okay so what I had before was exactly like that I would get the lighting is indication lights there but no illumination on the audio meter or the command center so I'm going to put it into Auto see if it works ah voila and my life is always both out then if I put it back into manual yep perfect awesome should be able to adjust the lighting with that make it female or perfect hmm okay well thanks for watching I know like if you would take your car to Auto electrician for this and I know many auto edition would do that because I asked a few people around town and they probably would change the whole combination switch for you and all these sort of stuff and that would cost you around four or five hundred bucks depending what type of collar is and it would fix the problem but as you could see with a simple solar ink and little bit of this installation is should you can fix attention to the job well yeah that's about it and have a good time you
