grandma and granddad had a very special peach tree in the backyard that peaches were just super delicious and you want to grow one of those trees exactly like grandma and granddad well you can but there are some precautions this is Richard Skinner coming to you from Plant City Florida Hawkins corner nursery how to grow a peach tree from a seed depending on the area of the country you're in you can take a peach and plant the seed approximately three inches below the ground and it will germinate and we'll make a peach tree now if you're here in Florida the chances of it long-range success are very limited because that particular sweet peach root is not going to be as disease resistant that if you had a grafted tree on a disease resistant root stop however if you want to get grandma and granddad peach in other words reproduce it and you have to do it by seed then the other thing a planet grow it for a while and then watch it and see how it's doing if it's growing real aggressively well you're you're doing good you've got something that's going to make some peaches eventually that's the other thing don't expect it to start blooming as soon as it gets to be four or five or six feet tall because it's going to have to mature that can range anywhere from three years to seven years before you get any bloom without bloom you're not going to get any peaches but if it's not blooming in those early years don't worry about it it'll get there when it gets to be about seven and a half foot tall you want to clip the top off from it and make it spread that'll also encourage it to go ahead and start blooming this is Richard Skinner from Hawkins corner nursery in Plant City Florida how to grow a peach tree from a seat
