what I'm gonna do today is show you how to put gold leaf where gold leaf used to be on your elbow and this works for bassoon too so the the instrument name itself usually is stamped onto the wood into the wood and then gold leaf is put on at the factory that gold leaf wears off after well you can see here the gold leaf is still fine but what I'm gonna show you today is a the technique that you use for getting the gold leaf to go on the logo but not all over the wood I personally use a flame I'm not sure that you should I'm sure that you should not do this at home without parental supervision but I heat up a little piece of metal and then I take the gold leaf and you can get this on our website and apply it and after applying just a little bit of it let it get cool and you can do the entire thing at once I'm not doing that now just so we don't take too much time then i reheat it just very slightly using this flame and wipe with a paper towel and you will see the gold leaf remain where you want it to be and come out of everything else if you did the entire logo I'd recommend that you do it very lightly and in stages and if you leave you drops on here and can definitely get it off without the heat it'll just take longer you'll be cleaning and cleaning and cleaning use a fresh paper towel over and over and over now some of those have grain that's very pronounced if you have that happen to you you'll well if your oboe has that you'll know because the gold leaf will kind of stick in those little areas using a pin this is literally just a spring from an oboe you can use a pin or any other small device like that very lightly you can just push the gold leaf out till you get to the point where you have a beautiful logo on your instrument once again thank you very much for watching I'm Brian Charles from Charles double-reed company and I do recommend that you give us a call if you have any additional questions we are always happy to help my parents went through exactly what parents all around the world are going through today so in a way I feel like I'm paying it forward give us a buzz or email me and let me know what your questions are I'm happy to help you
