Please explain how to plant out your okra - claire's allotment part 239

hello what I'm going to show you today is how the aqua are getting on the last time I did an aqua video they I was planting them into three inch pots now they've got much bigger and now they need to be moved on in to six inch pots and they will stay in those six inch pots until they've finished at the end of the season so this is their final move okay this is what they look like at the moment this is the best that they have ever grown for me as you can see the sun is shining which is wonderful and it's lovely and hot I'm still keeping these on the kitchen windowsill they are drooping just ever so slightly because they did get very very dry and I just I haven't watered them today not that they need watering every day but they need watering quite frequently but not too much if you water them too much they don't like that either they're they're quite high maintenance Oh aqua but hopefully we'll get some nice okra from them so it can all be worthwhile and but if you look very very carefully don't you can see can you see there okay that's where the at the fruit is going to come so I will just show you how to plant these on from 3 inch pots to 6 inch pots all right so here is the pot that I'm going to put it into it's about a six inch pot if they don't need to go in anything that much bigger because these plants they won't grow any taller than about a foot possibly 18 inches but I can't see it obviously I know some people have questioned this some you can get and they do grow very very tall but these ones won't grow very tall so all I've done is in the bottom of the pots I've just put some multi-purpose compost which is exactly what's what they've been growing in anyway and then all I'm going to do is I'm going to tip it out and you can hopefully you can see all the roots round there they're doing really well so we will place it in there you can place it in so that it's a little bit deeper if you want then it will just make it a little bit more sturdy when these start to grow you may find if they get loads and loads of fruit on they may well need staking it depends how much fruit you get on them and how thick the stems get so just bear that in mind so just fill the rest of the pot round push it down so it's nice and firm and out of the 12 that I put into three inch pots I think I've got about eight which I'm going to put on some of them just look a bit weedy so I'm not going to bother with those so only plant out your strongest ones and then give it a nice water and it's done now I'll carry on and I'll do the rest of those but I will just keep those on the windowsill they seem to be very very happy on the windowsill if you have got a space in your greenhouse and the temperature stays nice and hot because they like the hot weather then you know bring them and put them in the greenhouse but I don't know if you can see behind me my greenhouse is getting a little bit busy and a little bit full with the millons and the tomatoes and the Keuka melons and other things so I think I will keep these on my kitchen windowsill because it's really really sunny and it's just like being in the greenhouse and hopefully they'll enjoy it but I will show you hopefully fingers crossed I will get some fruits this year I am very excited because this is the furthest that they have ever got with me and hopefully we will get some some flowers the flowers a yellow with like a strip of beep of sort of bluey black through them and hopefully will then get some fruit well I hope you found that useful and I shall see you
