hi I'm Katie the crafty blog stalker and in today's video I'm going to show you how you can cut eight pennant banner pieces out of one 12 by 12 piece of card stock or pattern paper it really can be done and it's actually quite easy so let me show you how here's my 12 by 12 piece of pattern paper that I'm going to use to create my banners so with this I will also need my paper trimmer I'll need a ruler and a pencil but we're going to start with just the paper trimmer and the 12 by 12 piece of paper so and you start by cutting it into four six by six squares so I'm just gonna measure that on my paper trimmer make sure it's nice and straight and cut my four equal squares okay so there's my squares I have all four of them now the next thing you want to do and I only like to cut paper in a stack of two that way I know that my edges stay nice now what you're gonna do is just cut directly down the center of those so we're just gonna line that up with the groove in my paper trimmer and get that as straight as I can and then we're gonna cut those so now I've got four triangles I'm about to make four more triangles for a total of eight now you'll notice these triangles they aren't very penalty shaped that they're not really the shape that you want for a banner so let me show you how to get those to the right shape that's where my ruler and my pencil comes in now these banners and penat banners are going to be about six inches so let me show you how to make them even so this side right here is six inches we already know that six inches so I'm gonna take my ruler and I'm gonna start with the six inch mark right on that very tip and then I'm going to mark with my pencil where that zero mark is right there now I'm gonna keep my stacks in stacks of two I'm again this will make it easier so you don't have to cut each one individually and they'll still get a nice good edge so I'm just gonna measure all of these okay so I have my stacks where I've measured six inches now I should say this side is already six inches so we're gonna mark the side that is let's see how long it is it is about eight and a half inches long so on the eight and a half inch long side we're gonna mark where that six inch mark is so then we're gonna bring in the paper cutter again paper trimmer I'm gonna make sure those pieces are nice and snug against each other that they're the same size and this time we're gonna line up this point right here with the mark that we made with our pencil in the groove of the paper trimmer now I know this looks funny but trust me when it is cut you will see that actually creates a perfect pennant that triangle pennant so you cut that off throw it away or use it for scraps and let me just do that again so you can see so again we're lining up this point with the point that we'd measured and then we're gonna cut and again two more perfect pennants so it really is a great way to quickly cut out all of your pennants if you want six inch pennants if you want smaller pennants say you want four inch pennants then cut your paper into eight by eight and then measure four inches instead of six so really you just double the size of paper that of the size of pennant banner that you want then you don't have to measure and all of your banner pieces are the same size and now you can put your banner together super quick once you finish creating all of your pennant banner pieces then you can add more paper layer add your letters maybe some inking and then you can create a beautiful banner just like this one it's fabulous thank you guys so much for joining me today and I really do hope that you find this tip as to how to get eight banner pieces out of a twelve by twelve piece of cardstock or pattern paper useful you can always find me at the crafty blog stalker calm and please make sure to subscribe to my youtube channel and to my email newsletter so you don't miss out on any of my upcoming projects thanks everyone
