i'm back again with one of my beginner series today i am dehydrating apples uh for those that you don't have get you a either one of the apple peelers or this is the apple corer but the apple peelers i've got one on the pantry there but i'm not gonna dig it out anyhow get you up and it's just that easy um get you an apple peeler corer thing and that will make your work go so much faster uh but i didn't want to get it out and have to clean it all up and everything but call me lazy today and i didn't go to sleep until late and got up early but anyhow in this bowl i have got fruit fresh and before i even peel my apples i put them in there to keep them from going getting brown and there's my fruit fresh and this is not what the direction says to do the directions say to sprinkle the fruit fresh on your fruit but i found this always works for me especially when i'm trying to dehydrate and peel your apples i've got a container over here to put my apple peels in and then you slice those into however much thickness you want to either two pieces three pieces whatever i've got some in here that's kind of thin naturally it's going to take the thicker pieces longer to dry but that's depends on how you like them um got my dehydrator over here ready and i've got my tray underneath to catch my drips or whatever this is my cinnamon sugar i'm gonna sprinkle those on some of them i'm not gonna do all of them that way but i will do some and i will mark their containers which is which of course you'll be able to tell by looking at them but uh and i think these are gala apples yes they are and i got these three pound bags on sale and all these and i decided to go ahead and get some while they were on sale whoops this one went crooked on me oh well but uh you choose whatever kind of apples that you like i have used these apples dehydrated apples in like animals apple cinnamon muffins if i can clear my teeth here um they dehydrated just fine you can never tell that they were eat they weren't even fresh you might try other recipes or whatever but mainly that's what i want i've never tasted just a plain old apple chip now logan would be the one to like that but anyhow i'm going to get the rest of these peeled and i don't let these set in the fruit fresh too long i'll go ahead and load my dehydrator tray and get them on there so that they won't really soak up a whole lot but i like to use the fruit fresh because it has no taste i've tried to use the lemon before but i just didn't like it because it had a little bit of that lemony taste but i'm gonna go ahead and get the rest of these peeled and get them on the dehydrator tray and i will show you before i put them in and let you see what they look like so we'll be back hey everybody we're back i've got all my apples peeled i've got two in the dehydrator already one with and one without the cinnamon sugar uh i've had to write myself some notes of things that i forgot to tell you uh first thing is no matter what vegetable you're washing or you're dehydrating or canning or whatever vegetable or fruit i always put them in the sink in a clean sink or clean pan and wash them some people say with hydrogen peroxide i use vinegar vinegar water not just pure vinegar but be under vinegar water and make sure that they're real clean to get whatever chemicals or preservatives or stuff to make it shiny whatever they put on also no matter what i do you know don't take my word for it i'm not an expert at anything i'm still learning just like you i'm just telling you what works for me also when you're over here and you take the apple corer and you slice it and you just peel your your slices then if there's any bad spots take those bad spots off you don't want anything on your apples that will ruin it and bad spots definitely will also i'm using these apple peels this time to go in the compost and this is the first year that i've had a compost pile so we'll see how that goes uh i have done a lot of things with the apple peels the apple peels and cores not last fall but the fall before i did uh apple jelly with those and then right now i've got some apple cider vinegar in there that's probably about ready to be taken out and strained and i'll let you know how that goes but uh whenever i get done here i'm gonna have two trays with two trays without the cinnamon sugar and i wish i'd got some bananas at the store i would put them in with it but i will find something to put in there because i don't want to just run for trays but anyhow that's it for now uh i don't think i forgot to tell you anything else can't rely on my memory a whole lot but uh as we go through this series you know i'll tell you more about the more simpler things people that just starting to get into it can start and try but like i said don't take my word for it i'm not an expert at anything you know i'm just me so uh i guess that's it for now i will show you what these look like when they come out and i'll let you know how long they took talk to you later bye for now we're back uh excuse me uh these are my apples that are done uh they took about 12 maybe 13 14 hours i think it's because some of them were a little bit thicker than others but these are the ones with the cinnamon sugar and over here are the ones without the cinnamon sugar this is all i put in i hate to run just the four trays but i really didn't have anything else to put in them next i'm going to be putting in some oranges and some lemons and i got four bags of oranges but i think i'm going to dehydrate three and leave one out to eat but uh this is it for the apples and i think this will be a added incentive for beginners to start this is very easy to do so we'll talk to you later appreciate everybody watching and uh that uh important announcement will be coming up uh within a day or so so stay tuned talk to you later everybody stay safe bye
