my eyes Antoni here from booty money vintage for today's technique I'm going to show you how to do some whitewashing effects this particular crate is a very rough sawn wood it's got lots of texture to it so we're going to treat this a little bit differently than if we were going to be whitewashing our smooth surface so for this we're going to be using a mini part of vintage paint this is a rickshaw glue that we're using today we're going to use some water you can have gloves on our hands you'll need a brush and something to stir your your paint with so first of all we're going to mix a a diluted mix of vintage paint and water and that way we're going to create the the literal water whitewash effect so I'm going to use about 50/50 mix possibly a tiny bit more paint than 5050 maybe 40 60 I'm gonna add my water to it give it a really good mix you want this mixed really well or else you'll get streaky and Max of the paint for this project you're also going to need a really good rag a clean rag that hasn't got any dust or lint and up so to whitewash you have to be quite quick with us what we're going to do is we're going to put a thin layer of paint on here we're going to let it dried 10 20 maybe 30 seconds at the most and then we're going to give it a good scrub off with the rag now because it is a rough sawn wood and it is also a beer wood that's not been sealed before it's going to soak up a lot of time so you literally have to get loads on your brush first this paint will go a long way though because you're diluting it 50/50 so when you add diluted vintage paint to be a wood what you're doing is you're creating its own self primer because the paint actually sleeps right on to the work so we flooded their that with color I'm gonna grab a really clean break in what we've got now is we can still see the grain of the wood showing but you can see a peak of color almost like it's a blue sky now we've done that so I don't want to show you what it's got a little blue when we go over the right-hand side so this way you can actually see where the blue is peeking out and we have a beer Wooden's now after I've done this whole entire crate I'm also going to paint the inside of this as well I'm going to give it a really good cloak coat of vintage clear coat over the top that's a water-based polyurethane that is so so easy to apply gonna put it on it's going to seal it on all and nicely and then I'll be able to use this with some pasta wheels to slide underneath now being
