check out this quick tip from lincoln tech this time let's talk about sealing threads that may leak water this is done with either teflon tape or teflon paste either one you can bite any parts store teflon sealant is used on any tapered pipe thread where fluids may leak up including oil gas and water the oldest teflon tape was wrapped around the threads this can still be done in cases where threads are worn and loose and you want to take up some space to ensure good seal but using too much tape can also crack a fragile aluminum part such as a intake manifold bung if you over tighten it these days teflon paste is a better answer all you need to worry about is not applying it to the threads near the very end of a fitting as you don't want a small piece of teflon to end up in your oil system or fuel system lincoln tech can teach you how to have a career working with cars see lincolntech.edu
