[Indy grunts while struggling to open wheel packaging] Hahaha! [Lets Roll Intro Plays] [Indy Cheers] Hoho! What's up Planet Roler Skaters? Indiana Jones here and today I'm gonna teach you how to change your wheels! [Electric Synth music plays] So, there are a lot of reasons why you might want to change your wheels sometimes I'm gonna change from my everyday wheel to one of the new bright summer colors of the Moxi Gummy wheel So tomorrow I'm planning on going to the beach with my friends and we're gonna be doing just kind of like a really slow Long skate, so I don't need anything to go really fast but I need something that's really comfortable and can get over all the bumps and cracks and I also want to look really cute because It's the summertime we're gonna be taking pictures So that's why I'm going with the new Moxi summer colors. So over here I have a color I am going to actually put on my skates. In this bag... So you can see we have yellow and green too. I guess this is the Pineapple , Honeydew, Then these are the citrus color or the Clementine. Clementine pineapple honeydew! New colors. I'm gonna go with the yellow, the pineapple, because I have these really cute boot covers that I'm gonna wear That have yellow in them, so it's just gonna be like really bright summertime fun. Alright, so first thing I'm going to do is Get my skate that I want to put the wheels on. Let's do this one And first thing I have to do is take off the wheels that I don't want on there anymore. So, I have my Y3 skate tool - it's here in my bag. This is a super handy tool to have. I carry it with me everywhere this shape in particular is awesome because you can really, like, get on top and Unscrew things and put your weight into turning your toes stops. So it's a pretty, pretty handy tool here You can find these on PlanetRollerSkate.Shop as well as many of these other items And remember every purchase that you make on PlanetRollerSkate.Shop goes towards funding free episodes with information that you guys need! So... Let's do it! So, I'm going to use the 1/2 inch side for my one half inch nuts you see right there That is the size in America, or in the Imperial system, so you guys might have centimeters or millimeters. So, the fastest way that I think is to do this is to take all of them off at once. So, I'm using one hand to unscrew one While I'm pulling the other one off... You can kind of make this go really fast if you practice so, unscrew this one pull it off And then you can start unscrewing this one [Boop!] [Boop!] All right, so as you can see these wheels are nice and dirty They've been through all kinds of sand and mud and gross stuff. So they're really dirty My bearings actually needs to be replaced So, this time I'm going to put new bearings in my wheels and leave these in here for now. And this is actually one of the reasons that I really really love my wheel bag because whenever I'm taking off dirty wheels I don't want to put them back in my in my skate stuff where they're just super gross. So, they stay in this bag and then that also really helps me keep them all together, especially for my light-up wheels right here I always keep these in a bag because of the bearing in the middle especially. I have a habit of losing little bits and pieces like that, so, if I keep it in the wheel bag Then I know where everything is. And so these are sold in sets of eight so you'll get two of these. I'm going to pop it out here... ...this is the easiest way. There we go [singing] Pull off the wrapping! Ah, look at it in the sun! [Ooooh] Shoot! Okay, all right! the other wheels out Got my Moxi sticker I'm going to Pop some bearings here. I don't want to get my blanket all oily, so I'm gonna put down my little wheel changing rag! I have some bearings here... So just a good ol' pack of regular Bones Reds bearings. These are kind of like the agreed-upon Go-to in the skate industry in general they're quality. They're affordable. Just kind of, easy choice to make Bones Reds are where it's at! Alright so lets take these out right here So these come with 16 bearings so each wheel on your skates has two bearings they're eight wheels That means you need 16 bearings for a full set. This isn't a full set right here, but just for the example I'm gonna... Show you guys 'cause I have other ones in these wheels right now. That's okay Alright So, here is a super secret trick to putting your bearings in whenever you're changing your wheels. It goes like this: Take your two bearings and put them both with the inside facing up Then I'm going to take my wheel with the The cone part, like, the outside face it's gonna go down first And I'm gonna get on top and I'm gonna go ahead and put my weight into it and push down That pushes in my first bearing then I flip my wheel, same thing. [bearing clicks into wheel] You hear it click in Got my second bearing in [Pigeon off screen:] Wow super fast and easy If you want to see if your bearings are all the way in what you can test is by spinning the wheel There we go And if it feels wobbly like [wonka wonka wonka wonka], like this one's a little bit wobbly So I know one of the bearings can be pushed inward. If the bearings are both evenly pushed all the way in You won't feel any, any, wiggle in the roll. [bearing clicks into place] Oh, there we go. That was the one you hear click in there That one's good Let's test it out again... Rolling nice and smooth I don't feel any wobble. All right cool. So then I'm gonna do my other one [bearing clicks into wheel] [click] Awesome... oh, it can little further, but you know what? I could push it down further But I'm just gonna leave it and use my nut to actually push the bearing in a little bit more That's okay, as long as you don't tighten it too much. Okay, so I'm just gonna kind of get these adjusted- Use my fingers to tighten them on a little bit until they get their grip and flip it over and do these guys [Electronic synth music plays] Okay, so now I'm just gonna tighten the nuts on with my fingers- righty tighty Righty tighty lefty loosey! Okay, so I remember whenever I first started rollerskating I didn't really understand how much I needed to tighten the nut Onto my skate like, right now [wheels rattle and jiggle] My wheels are wobbling all over like look at this [rattling noise continues] So like, do I need to tighten that? I don't know! Well, I'm here to tell you! Yes! You need to tighten it if you can hear your wheels wobblin' around, Then there's a chance your nut can come flying off and you lose a wheel we call that a flat tire! it's kind of scary but also kinda fun sometimes. So, What we're gonna do now is tighten our nuts down. That's why I have my handy-dandy Y tool I'm gonna use my 1/2 inch again, and I'm just gonna start... ... tightening it So you can't really go any more. So there we go. It's kind of tight, but you can see if you try to spin your wheel It's not really spinning What I'm gonna do is once I get it tight enough that it's not moving I'm gonna slowly loosen it like one quarter turn by one quarter turn. So I'm gonna do... quarter turn- Oh! And there we go. Awesome. So, once we put some weight on it The bearings will start like greasing themselves up and rolled way longer than this, but that's really good for now So now I'm gonna go around and tighten all three wheels the same way So sometimes you'll hear a little crunching sound like [Euhrrrrrr] [Pigeon off screen]: Like what? Like, [EUHRRRRR] [Euhrrrr errr] [Err] Yeah, that one. And that's just sometimes your bearings are being pushed all the way into place and that's fine and just don't crank it down too hard Alright, that ones good. Alright, that's good! You know changing wheels really, isn't that bad I always like, procrastinate it, like it's like the most not fun thing to do But then every time I actually do it I'm like look at how cute they are! I feel so fresh and clean. It's like... Like getting a haircut or something Just spruce you skates up Get your nails done. So got my wheels on I'm liking it a lot and feeling good about it The last thing I'm gonna do to complete my look. It's add my boot cover! big fan of boot covers lately so, this is just gonna really bring it all together BAM, look at that! [Baby Maple coos in background] Summer time skate! I would also like to point out that Pigeon is filming while holding Maple this entire episode. [Pigeon]: Hey guys! [Both Indy and Pigeon laugh] So, if you hear little baby noises. I feel like that's everything you need to know! Um, oh! One thing I didn't talk about was getting the bearings out. So... This time I just replaced my bearings and put a new clean ones in because I really needed some new ones But sometimes it's a little bit tricky to get these bearings out I recommend getting a Bones Bearing Tool or you can also get like, a bearing press but, there's all kinds of little- -I sometimes use the truck of my skate. So I'll show you that trick really fast [more baby noises] Okay [Pigeon off screen]: I'll just feed her. I'm Pretty much sittin' down. [Hungry baby noises] [Piegon]: Watch this! Man! [Indy]: OOOH, Nice! Okay, oh good [Pigeon]: Back on track! [Indy laughs] Okay, so I'm gonna show you this trick, haha! I'm gonna warn you that it's a little bit risky. You could tear up the threading on your trucks. So just know that- -like to watch out for that and know that that is a little bit of what you're risking But when I'm just out speeding, traveling and I don't wanna,... don't have a bearing press or a bearing puller I do this All you have to do See, it's kindof stuck on there. Oh shoot! There we go. [Pigeon]: Oooooh So, you can see how gross these bearings are but You just kind of place it on the top right there a little bit and then start Bending and pulling and spinning it in a circle as you're pulling. Slowly starts pulling that bearing out of there Come on, here we go. The harder the wheel, the harder this is gonna be. The softer the wheel, the easier it is or I guess the softer the hub. So, you're going to see Came out there. And in the future, I'm going to show you how to change your wheels in record time. And then maybe we should have a wheel changing contest to see who can do it the fastest But that's a basic overview of how to change your wheels If you guys have any questions, let me know in the comments. And until next time! Later skaters! [Aaaaaah]
