Please explain how to collect and save hollyhock seeds in the garden

it's mr. brown thumb and I'm standing in my garden today decided to make this video to show you what the hollyhock weevils look like on a the hollyhock seed pods show just how bad the infestation can get and what to look out for when you're collecting hollyhock seeds so here's the flower that you're all familiar with I didn't notice the weevils during the growing season but I can see that they were here now you can see those black spots those are all holes they burrowed into the seed pods maybe you can get a look there see that they're also burrowed deep into the seeds if I were to collect these all of the larvae or eggs that they lay inside the pods would end up producing tons of hollyhock weevils in my house and so I don't want to do that but just showing you what it looks like when they're infested all those little black spots there are potential weevils you'd be taken into your house if you collected these a few years ago one gardener told me that she liked to collect her hollyhock seed pods put them in a ziplock bag throw them in the freezer for about two weeks to kill off the larva but I also find that just sticking them in a container of some sorts for a week or two will give you an idea if your seed pod was infested to see them start to emerge and if you don't notice anything after a couple of weeks it looks like they were okay to save seeds from but it's very very important that you do quarantine them for a bit before trading them because you can spread these around and more importantly you can spread them inside your own home here in my hand though I have a seed pod that looks like it was spared and the seeds look fine you can see they're black kind of papery the seed pod doesn't seem to have any holes in it so I think this one may be safe to collect just to be on the safe side I'm going to put this in a jar for a few days and make sure that there's nothing that ends up emerging from them and after that I'll just put them in a paper bag let them dry out some more and then separate each of the little seeds back them up Percy trades are for sowing in the garden next year you
