hi I'm Ken with cowboy charcoal and today we're going to look at how to use a charcoal chimney for starting your charcoal fire lump charcoal is all-natural and doesn't contain any lighter fluid to keep things natural we suggest lighting your charcoal using a chimney which uses newspaper as a starter and won't give your food an aftertaste okay let's get started first you'll flip the chimney over so that the more shallow compartment is at the top this is where you will put your crumpled up newspaper depending on the size of your chimney you'll probably use between two and four sheets of newspaper you'll crumple one sheet at a time and you'll pack them loosely in the chimney be careful not to pack them too tight air needs to be able to flow around the newspaper in order for it to catch fire once your newspaper is loaded flip the chimney back over so that the newspaper is on the bottom and the larger empty compartment is on top build a large compartment with a high-quality lump charcoal like Kowboy hardwood lump charcoal take a long step match or utility lighter and light the newspaper in multiple spots throughout the vents around the bottom of the chimney the burning newspaper will then catch the charcoal on fire let the charcoal heat up and burn for about 15 minutes once the coals are asked over and glowing orange you're ready to carefully dump the hot coals into your grill and start grilling we'd suggest wearing an oven safe myth while you're transferring the hot coals from the chimney to the grill now the only challenge is deciding what to grill to see more videos about grilling visit cowboy charcoal calm
