i'm going to show you how to make this keyhole scarf where it has an opening and you place the other part of your scarf through that opening it's pretty easy i used medium impeccable worsted yarn you can use any kind of medium worsted yarn and then i used a j hook and i did half double crochet in the back loop and then i left this part open with a chain here okay so let's get started okay to get started i'm going to chain 140 slip knot onto your hook yarn over and start your chains one two three four five six so you'll need 140 okay so now you have 140 chains you're going to half double crochet in the third chain from the hook yarn over one two three pull through all loops half double crochet in each chain across so every chain across is going to be a half double crochet so pause the video and work your half double crochet in each chain till the end okay so you're at the end with all your half double crochet chain one turn and then the back loop you're going to work a half double crochet and each back loop gets a half double crochet across all the way to the end i'm going to do a total of three rows of a chain one turn half double crochet across until i get to the keyhole in the fifth row so just repeat that all the way to the end across back loop half double crochet back loop and pause the video and repeat that until the very end okay you're at the end of row two you're going to chain one turn and work a half double crochet again in each back loop so you're repeating the last row the same way you're going to do two more rows of this half double crochet in the back loop in each back loop across again so just repeat this across till the end okay so you're on row four and you're going to do the same thing chain one and half double crochet in each back loop across and this is the last row before we get to the keyhole for the scarf so just continue this on again for row four okay we're on the row where the keyhole is created and for this you're going to chain one turn and you're going to half double crochet in the next 30 so you need to go across 30 back loops of half double crochet one two three four five six okay and so i need you to half double crochet in the back loop up to 30 and then stop okay so you did 30 but once you get to 29 go to both loops not the back loop and do a full loop of half double crochet instead of the back loop because when you have this opening it really takes apart it comes apart more on the back loop then you're going to chain ten this is for the keyhole so one two three four five six seven eight nine ten then you're going to skip ten one two three four five six seven eight nine ten and then in the eleventh you're going to yarn over and then in both loops work a half double crochet half double crochet and then you have your keyhole so you did a chain 10 skip 10 half double crochet in both loops and then in the rest of the loops you're going to do back loops now so continue on with back loops all the way to the end so back loops all the way to the end and then do your chain and that's how you do the keyhole and then do it all the way to the end okay so you're at the end and you're going to chain one and half double crochet across and once you get to the keyhole i'll show you how to crochet around that so right now just work your half double crochet in the back loop again until the keyhole okay you're back to the chain and you're going to work a half double crochet in each chain so half double crochet so you're going to work a half double crochet in each chain and then each half double crochet work in the back loop a half double crochet to the very end so to the very end work half double crochets okay we're on the next row and you're just going to do the same thing chain one and then half double crochet and each back loop across and i think i'm going to do three to four more rows of back loop half double crochet you can maybe get away with doing a couple more rows if you can put it in the keyhole and so you're just going to do the rest of the scarf and half double crochet back loops with the chain one to start and you can just continue on to the end okay so i did four more or i did four rows and four rows and that fits in there pretty nicely for the chain ten and then at the end you can do a single crochet around the edge so around the edge i would work a single crochet so along the edge work a single crochet around here and along here all the way to the end or you can leave it the way that it already is or you can work your single crochet around the border to finish it okay when you're done you can slip stitch and chain one and pull through and weave in your ends okay once you weave in your ends i would just cut that or you can tie a knot and cut it and this is how you make the keyhole scarf thank you for watching and please subscribe you
