hi it's Teresa with smoking hot cigar chick calm often like to talk to you about my go-to cigars but one of my other favorite things are go to cocktails so what I'm making today is a sidecar it involves two ingredients that I love a big fan of cognac drinks clinic cocktails and there's a neat product from para from called the 1840 and it's actually a cognac based off of the recipe of an eighteen forty style cognac so we look at the vintage cocktails these were all blended or you know these were all made to have a certain kind of balance of flavors and the context and the different syrups we use now a day sometimes can be too sweet or just kind of not the right with not what they had intended in the beginning so this recipe is designed to kind of marry the original concept of these cocktails and a special treat that is came out to from from cognac is their dry Curacao and this is a real Kira so so the orange one of the smell by itself is so delicious and I've been excited to use this in a cocktail and the sidecar involves both the orange and the cognac so I've been very excited to remake this cocktail a favorite but now with the proper ingredients the other ingredients involved is 11 some simple syrup which is just equal parts sugar and water it's called simple syrup is pretty easy to make just make the two together dissolve them in hot water and kind of let it get back to room temperature you'll have a very easy simple syrup I just calls for quarter ounce so I went ahead and put it in my lemon juice we want to squeeze at three-quarter ounce of lemon juice and what I like to do is the cocktail kind of calls for sugar rim I so what you do is you take a glass and take a little bit of lemon juice or the lemon and just kind of get the glass prepared for the sugar it's optional what I like to do depending on my mood is I like to just do about three-quarters of the glass and lay the other part dry that way I the option if I want to stick with sugar and just if we that's at the elbow so you just take that and you put it in the sugar and the only thing you want to be careful of is you just want the sugar on the outside you don't want it in the drink so otherwise it'll kinda mess up the balance of the recipe so there we go yeah sugar and a little bit right there so I can try it with helped you so what you're going to do is you take your cocktail shaker and you're going to start with two ounces of cognac and again i prefer of the 1840 because that's what was originally intended for the flavor of this drink I think it goes really wants the car is too it's a little bit more complex and I think because your traditional contacts are meant to be tasted alone this one's really meant to be blended and next we're going to take three quarters of the dry carousel you're going to add a quarter ounce of simple syrup I went ahead and added it to the lemon juice and squeezed it and lemon juice is three quarter ounces of lemon going to add some ice and because we have lemon cheese we have an acidic quality in here we're going to shake this trip we're going to wake up the cocktail so we'll just a great safe so if your drink has lemon juice or orange juice or grapefruit you're going to shake the cocktail if it's just liquors this cognac just Amaro you're going to stir it so we're gonna shape it I like to use a traditional strainer I find sometimes these can I don't get all of the cocktail out sometimes it kind of blocks up to take my glass and strain and for my cocktail and that is a beautiful sidecar ready for a cigar one of the things I really like about this drink is how easy it is to make it home doesn't require too many ingredients I something that's pretty easy to find anywhere you are and you can make other cocktails with these ingredients to be sure to check the blog for other cocktails my let go to cocktails and i'll be sharing more with you soon enjoy bye
