you all right I've been wanting to do this video for a while and the weather finally cleared up enough to where I can do it and what we're going to do today is we're going to recap we're going to patch some holes in the asphalt this is in my driveway and if you can see here we're going to use this is called CPR quality segment repair I got this at Home Depot for thirteen dollars and it's a 50-pound bag so you get quite a bit you can fill a couple little pop holes at least and potholes I got here are definitely little this was caused by Toyota transmission fluid the transmission fluid ain't the tar out and then I've got a pothole and these are the tools were going to use today we've got the QPR is asphalt patch kit here in the bag we've got a couple hammers I've got a tin can and just a putty knife or anything like that will work and I don't have any asphalt crack sealer but I've got something that works pretty good as well and you may already have this in your your shot this is just Henry roof cement it's pretty much tar and it dries pretty hard but it stays flexible enough just like the original tar that's in the asphalt so I'm pretty sure that this stuff will work just fine actually I've tried it before it seems to work great so we'll get going so first step is to clean out the hole I took a pressure washer the hole blew all the dirt out of it that I could and I went through and I picked all the loose rocks out because you want to give it a good base to stick to you and if there's loose rocks in there then the foundation of your repair isn't going to be all that great so you dump some in and you start packing it down as you can tell these aren't exactly professional asphalt repair tools but they work pretty good what I do is I put it in the hole there and then I tamp it down just pack it in there real tight you also notice I'm wearing gloves that's this stuff's pretty sticky it's hard to wash off your hand so I definitely recommend gloves if you've got them or do tackle it in there more yourself you can compact it in that's a good sign up again now try using a hammer to hit another hammer is a bad idea but we're just doing it with simple tool today the reason it's bad idea so the hammer could ship in a piece of metal could fly off so if you use this particular method right here you might want to wear some safety glasses do if it's not really a OSHA approved okay so we're getting pretty close to the top it's probably Oh No about 3/4 an inch from the top if I pack all this in the middle here and on the top I want to do a little something a little different it's not listed on instructions we feed off the asphalt basket but it's something I've used before and it works really good and what I want to do is I want to make sure that it sticks really well through the side of the little pothole here and so before I add any more of this stuff I'm going to clean those sides off and I'm going to apply some of our a roof patch and if you've got a asphalt cracks sealer which they fell right next to that asphalt patch stuff that I have the QPR that will work just fine but today I'm going to use the tar because I've got it I know it's effective so I cleaned it away from the edges here and I'm going to take this roofing tar which is actually called Henry - Oh a wet wet patch roof cement but take this personal and I'm going to apply it along the edges of the hole and what this does is going to help the asphalt stick to the already existing asphalt surround it and that way there's less likelihood of it coming loose and like I said a the a spot crack filler or sealer that they sell next this QPR like Home Depot or Lowe's or wherever will work just fine you just want to make sure you get a good bond between the asphalt and the repair kit stuff and we want to create kind of a tough layer on the top here so we're going to put a little bit on top and we were camping in the repair stuff now I get mixed in with it and so you'll create a nice amalgam of material that'll be really tough right now I just kind of mixing that material the other the guitar and asphalt this is going to make the upper layer really tough like I said and what you want to do is overfill it just a little bit that way when it packs down it's actually going to level out let's fish it is not smaller on top this is probably about as good as I can do with these tools right here as you can see there's some blue stuff and that's okay I'm just going to clean up a little bit later and I'm going to show you one of the most effective ways that I've seen to actually pack this stuff down that my friends is to drive a car over and there you go that is how you do an asphalt patch now uh as you can see there's some loose gravel there and stuff and the more traffic that's on this the more it's going to get back down and that's exactly what we want not loose gravels can you get washed away or I'll come sweep it later and that top layer I'll harden and she'll be good to go all right guys well I hope this helps you out if you like the video please hit like and subscribe thank you
