okay so stinger now stinger is described by Dale DeGroff as a classic New York nightcap I don't know if it necessarily came from New York or not maybe it did but it's one of those obscure cocktails classic cocktails that you just don't get a whole lot of call for anymore but the interesting thing is that's really a good drink touch on the sweet side so it is good for after dinner so we're gonna start with two ounces of cognac I'm gonna do Dovie s here and then one ounce of a creme de menthe use clear don't use the green kind it'll just give it kind of odd color so once you got that in your glass add ice and shake this up now here's where things get kind of interesting typically when you're talking about drinks that are just booze and no citrus no sugar you just stir them you don't shake them but this is one of maybe two cocktails that violates that rule all right and then this is also served over crushed ice in a rocks glass so we're just gonna throw our rocks last year with some finely crushed ice and then we're gonna strain right over the top no need for a garnish pick yourself a straw in there and there you have it classic New York nightcap stinger Cheers
