Please explain how to use sweet pickins milk paint on ikea stool

hi is Debbie from tattered butterfly studio I wanted to show you one of mine things that I love to do with mouth paint and that is is to make these chippy stools and i found this kit at ikea it runs between fifteen and twenty dollars depending on your area but it comes like this and in its solid wood and then you have to put it together yourself and so this is what it looks like after you put it together yourself and what we've already done on this one is we've coated it with krylon a clear spray any clothes free will do I get this at walmart very inexpensively for under four dollars then after you you click clear coat this you want to use the Krylon max leather brown is what i use you could use white you could use any color you want it but i found as you can see on this stool the brown is gives a really good contrast to the mouth paint then after you do the brown paint you go back and you spray with the clear spray then after that you're going to use shellac and shellac is what's going to make it chip and get crackling and i've tried other processes this by far is the easiest and best process i have found um and to get the chippy stool look this is what you need to do let me go back here for a minute you know the first step was to clear spray this and the reason why i clear spray this is because I'm you use less of the brown but you get a more even coat when you use the plural first and then the leather brown then after that you use the clear spray again then you spray this down with shellac and you want to do it before it dries all the way and Tim if you can come in here close and show this is what it the shellac will actually make it crackle and then this is the first coat and then so it looks pretty shabby this way the second coat you can see covers better and then what I do is I combat with sandpaper and then I also will use a paint tray / I'm just doing different ways I'm trusting pretty hard usually I'll do this right after it dries I let it I let it set a little bit longer you can see that you can get that chippy look and then after i'm all done i like to just lightly stand it and then after that um you can go ahead and use the oil wax now this process is for raw wood this was raw wood and melt paint if you don't finish it and finish your piece before you melt paint it um the paint is just going to observe right into the wood and so it would give you more of a wash look if you didn't do this process so this is um after this this is the look that you're going to get after you chip it and distress it and then all you need to do is use the oil wax and let me get you a good picture of this so you can see I've sold a lot of these people love to do these for a view I've done them for baby gifts for a baby shower I've also a wedding shower be great to have a step stool when you first get married um and overall I always get a lot of compliments on these ikea chippy stools the other thing you can use the same process on this was kind of a was it called india word it's an india frame and you need to treat it just like the raw wood because it's very porous it will just sink in and so I did the same exact um steps here that I did on the MDF and then this is a amber San that I did for class and this was raw wood and so was the amber sand but again the same process but just a different idea so if you have any questions about this just give me a you know feel free to either text me or leave in the comments again it's Debbie Crosby from tattered butterfly studio thanks
