I'm going to show you the best way to plant
out your cauliflowers. I've prepared my bed with some garden lime,
some slow release fertiliser and some well-rotted manure. So, first of all, nice and simple we just
make a hole about the size of the pot in the soil, up-end the plant, squeeze the pot so
it falls out, place it in so it's just about level with the plant and cover it over. Now, i've put a handful of lime in the soil
just to make the soil alkaline and that helps prevent against club root. Also I've added manure and the fertiliser
because they're extemely hungry plants. So again it's just a case of popping it in,
covering it over and firming it down slightly, and one more time. Now I've also added marigolds at the side
as companion plants, 'cos this keeps the bugs and the pests away from the cauliflowers,
it'll keep them nice and tasty when they come. The only other problem you could have is Cabbage
White Butterfly, and if you see any of them land on your crop throughout the season, make
sure you pick off the caterpillars and that way you should have some nice tasty cauliflowers.
