hey guys so today we're gonna be making headdresses first video ever made for this channel was how to make hetero spaces so you know now I've mic on it when I first start this channel I was kind of going for like 500 subscribers I'm pretty close to that now so I think you know may as well go full circle and go back to the hip dress from the first video during that video I show you off this headdress and as a not as an idea of where you can go with the headdresses and it culminated in this image which I used to enter into a few competitions I think it came second place in one and no we're in another one there so first of all if you've not seen the original video this is the base that I'm making the video if you have seen it all I've done is I've added some support bars over there that we're going to use to build off of and it I'll put a card up so you can get a link to that video comes in it and on top of that we're going to need a few things and so you're getting the head now this is quite expensive if you just if you're not hairdresser I mean normally they have hair but you want to shave it off because when we work with glue so I mean it's quite expensive to buy a head full of hair just to shave it off so you can get like polystyrene or foam wig holders which would be a good idea because you do need something that's kind of head shape dish at least you're gonna be working or not saying that can hump base but generally say head shapes can be better now you also need some bamboo skewers like your bamboo skewers which is what it's made out now and I bought these at Amazon and I bought hundreds for a few pounds and and all I've done is I've painted them black I spray paint in black and now because obviously when you get in their natural bamboo color and with the spray paint I used graffiti paint and there's three reasons for using graffiti paint and that's that is cheap firstly I used a Montana gold paint and which was the more expensive for the paint and it's still cheaper than normal acrylic paint and so that was yo Montana gold I use but there's also Montana there's a few different graffiti makes you can get and some of them go down to like three pound a can which is pretty cheap and you'll probably need two cans for this now and the second reason that graffiti paint is great is it dries really really fast so that's a benefit obviously because you want to keep working and a quick paint can be quite slow to dry and the third really good reason is that they dry matte and so you get instead of being like a highly polished shine you they dry a matte black which that's preference really if you want a shiny finish go for like an acrylic paint like a that you'll get in a regular hardware store and if you want the matte finish so I really recommend a cofee to paint the factory of Christ dries quickly is cheap and it's matte you can't go wrong first of all gonna need to base say it goes to have a bit of video I'll show you how you make the base this is just the base and covered in ribbon and then all I've done is just added say I talked about in the other video but I've just added little struts that go over here and what we're going to do is we're going to use them to start building off of and just give us a little bit of support when we start and just give it a little bit of kind of dynamic dynamic placement because if you don't have them you just be placing them straight on this whereas you've got these struts you can start straightaway placing them at awkward angles like that which is going to help and so that's what we can do and basically what I just show you today is what we're going to do I will obviously carry on I've not got enough of these do the whole headdress or anything this one I think is probably two or three hundred Stix and I think I've probably got around about 100 here so I'm going to work on one side and we'll just see how far we can get but the thing is is once I showed you a bit you've seen it all so you know that's about that so say with the sticks what we're going to do be doing is just placing them in position where we kind of random really and try and build up light like this and I'm just building up and up and up so I give you a couple of tips straight away before I speed up the video and we start actually building it and first of all and about every 2 inches of height that you build and go over it and spray with the spray can I don't have any paint today so I'm not going to doing it but I recommend it just go over it just give it a quick spray and the reason for doing that is as as we building it up you're getting quite a lot of lumps of glue on the joins now the glue when it dries when you put it on it's pretty clear and in fact it's kind of sometimes a dark blue which kind of works but when it dries it goes very kind of pale or very very gray and it becomes very visible on black so about every 2 inches you reason you want to every 2 inches is because once if you get like this and you finish and you're trying to spray and get right down in here it's probably not going to work the paint's not going to reach so or it's going to be very misty while time it hits it so every couple of inches just give it a quick once-over with paint and that will cover all of the glue and it basically makes the glue you can't see it you'll never see the glue especially not at all laughter tip over distance and once you've got hair in there as well the glue is invisible so yeah every couple of inches of height just give it a quick spray with the can and now the second tip would be and when you're building it it's hard to get a perspective of where you want to go and your just because really you just sort of placing sticks at first where you just kind of random and as you go through you're just placing the sticks so it's difficult to build up with a shape because you do want to build it with a shape that that is important so the tip for this that I've got is basically as you're building it take it off put it on your head look in the mirror and see where you're going because you'll notice that the sticks will start growing more one direction than another and you want to balance it you want to give it balanced and especially this think you can't really see it now but perhaps in that picture if I put the picture up you'll see it kind of comes around her face and goes with their jawline err now that say it's this these couple here and and you're not going to get that from just building on this so what you want to do is I your building just once you've built a bit of height and take it off put it in mirror have a look check your balance and see where you need to be building sticks and in what direction and then that will just keep it balanced and and then that's about it really now other than that let's say perhaps a third tip would be is don't expect too much at first because once you used you'll be putting the sticks on and at first it's really going to look crap perhaps I should say crap at first it's not going to look very good and it's gonna it's gonna just look a bit sparse and Nath and it does it takes a while and but as you start getting height then you'll start getting the kind of dynamic effect of this and that's where it starts really shine it but it does take a while so don't be disheartened don't per few sticks on things early on this looks rubbish I'm not doing it very well as you can see the photos and show like a progression and at first it really looks bad and it looks and like nothing really but as you build up it starts getting a shape so don't lose heart and just keep going and so yeah that's about it for tips and now I'm just going to get on with it and start building it and obviously I'm going to speed the video up because say it's quite a long process but hopefully you'll be able to see and what I'm doing what I'll probably do actually is at first I'll show you slow and then I'll speed the video up once we've put a few on and you see what I'm doing and then you'll be able to kind of just see how it builds so yeah we'll get on and build that now okay to start off with it's really just a matter of just picking a random point that you want to start with so we're going to go here and just put a blob of glue onto the stick and then just twist it around and that's kind of a good way that I found is just pop the glue on and twist the stick in your fingers set the glue rolls around and onto the a bar and then it will set and hold it there now with the second one it's just reinforcing it so you just pop in a little bit of glue around it just to hold it on now at first so you got just a little bit of glue pop it onto the headdress might the holder itself directly and then just pop it into the glue you've just dot so like a a goblet of glue goblet doublet whatever you want called it a dub of glue and then place the stick into that glue so I'll show you again in a second air and then that's that's on so that's pretty tight now it is pretty flexible and at first you think right that's not going to hold you know that's not a strong structure but once you've built up many on top of each other and they're all supporting each other gets very strong so you don't worry about that again so we our second one we'll use this this cross point here because that will give us an extra kind of dynamic kind of shape because it's a little bit higher so we'll use that cross point and we'll pop it and we'll go straight to the center there so there are two points that we need to put glue is here and here so first of all I'll glue it to the back so I'll stick some glue on there like that and then place the stick into it and then just some glue over the top say with this part you don't need to be too worried about the glue because we're going to paint it so you don't want massive lumps of glue but at the same time it's not too much for a problem if you do have kind of big lumps of glue because we're going to paint over it so yeah I mean try and keep the glue neat but at the same time you want to be strong so you need to have enough glue on there so don't worry too much now so you've got got it on the back before it sets you just want to see if you do before it sets you've still got some flexibility so stick it in there and pop it on top of the stick so first of all what it will do where was I put some glue on the headdress place the stick in and then just covered it in glue so basically you've got the whole stick it's surrounded like 3/16 in glue and then let it set and then so we've already got two so you kind of see how it's going to work now right so now we've got two that are going that way so coming at an angle from high to low from back to front if you like so now we're going to switch it up and go for sort of high and low to high from the back I suppose and and again this is a matter of sort of choosing wherever you feel like maybe we'll go across there that do and it really is a matter of just kind of weighing in am on at first and getting it going because you will need to get it going before you can sort of see where it's going if you like you need to because it is quite random so at first you need to get something common before you can actually start like thinking like okay now it needs to go this direction or now it needs to go in that direction you just need to get some on so we're just going to carry on and I think it's probably enough on the sleeves sprucing it now so what I'll do is I'll speed the video up and I'll just avoid it say I've only got about 100 sticks here so I don't know how much your headdress will be able to make therefore we have to do the whole head so what I do is I'll just concentrate on the side that is here in front of the camera and we'll see how far we go we might have enough to do the whole head who knows but I don't think so so I'm I'll just concentrate on this area here and we'll just build it up and I'll show you how it works you okay so that's basically that now I mean you get these strings of glue over it just pull them wrap them in your fingers and wrap it up and then say if you can see it's a little bit why you just paint over it I don't reason you need to kind of carry on because once you soon read this much that's the rest of the whole thing and you're just going to be watching a video for hours I've always and but yeah basically you just continue building it up and building up and building it up until you get like that and and then just keep you make it as big or small as you want it I mean even this now I look quite sparse but if you would dress hair over that that's going to be quite a lot already and so when I made this one I want it to be very complicated and a lot in there so I made it quite large and I mean it's pretty broken alice is going on like two or three years old but yeah I wanted a lot to be in there so and it was it was pretty large and it was pretty sparse them it's pretty complicated but whereas this one at the moment is quite sparse but it's the same thing you just keep building and building and building until you've got it and that's pretty much how I made that headdress and say they'll be I'll put a link to my blog which also it goes into quite a lot of detail about how I made it and there's some a lot of pictures on there that's the original one and and yeah that's pretty much that so I hope it helped I hope now all the people that requested how I made it they can did that it was a it was the kind of thing you were looking forward to see and Kasai they get a few quite a few people asking me about how I made this one so yeah and hopefully this is this is what you wanted to see and you can see how I built it up and good luck if you try it yourself and yeah thanks for watching please subscribe if you want to see more and yeah good luck Cheers
