this week on J TV we're creating sympathy arrangements and syndicate sales has whatever you need to make traditional or contemporary sympathy designs so let's get started with today's project we're going to create it in the 81 designer earned from syndicate sales now you don't seem to get sales they've come up with lots of great things throughout the years that helped us with sympathy for example they're the creators of the original everlastin basket and this is so great because we're used to seeing this as a traditional sympathy arrangement so whether it's a basket or the casket saddles that they create that we use for sympathy we're familiar with their great products today we're using their aqua fault and we're using a special size they've created sizes to fit their designer urns it's great because this super size fits the everlastin basket as well and it fits the smaller size of the designer urn so you have lots of things that you're able to work with and this is so brilliant because the size is ready for what you need it to do it's great if we look at the back side of this one we can see how it sticks up above the side of the container allowing us to have plenty of room to design it's thinking about the fact that the container and the foam have to go together to create success for you so today we'll be working in the 81 that's the 80 back there it's 7 and 3/4 inch this is nine and a half and it comes in great colors today we'll use the bronze and we use their super brick inside here this one's created to fit inside here perfectly there that's perfect and you know what it's so easy because the great part about this is I'm not having to carve down pieces and fill up the bottom and trying to wedge in two different pieces of foam this piece is there and it's a great stable piece of foam that's gonna allow me to create my arrangement my next step is to bevel the corners of the phone I do this so that I can have insertions that are easy all the way around the other great part about this urn is that all this area down in here is for water and it can absorb that up and give it to the flowers when they need it so now we're ready to get started with flowers one of the interesting things about sympathy design and sympathy work that we're doing today is that people want to personalize it they want things that are unusual and things that are beautiful arrangements although we're used to seeing the traditional shape back here of a flat fan shaped funeral arrangement something like this might be even more elaborate and will stand out at the funeral that's the important part when people want sympathy arrangements they choose them to go to their friends so that the recognition is there they're remembering that special person and creating something wonderful that will cause everyone to think about the great memories that they had that's our responsibility as florists to create those beautiful pieces and this allows us to create incredible designs with huge foam placement I've got plenty of room to add lots of flowers we'll start with these great tea leaves and that's going to define the shape and position of our arrangement place this one like that and come up and bring the end of our leaf right through it this allows me to create loops with these nice long tea leaves almost looks like it's ribbon but it's created out of foliage that started to define the shape of the arrangement that we're going to create now we can use these incredible snaps from Rosa flora these are grown in Canada and they look almost like velvet notice how I'm following the lines of the foliage that I placed in here and the great part is I've got plenty of room to work with that great big block of foam one of the goals I have when I'm creating a sympathy arrangement is to make one that's different from everything else that's at the funeral home if we're at the funeral home and we see 25 baskets that look like that and one that's interesting like this this is the one that's going to command everyone's attention and that's gonna mean so much to the person who sent it now we've started to create a focal area that's going to happen right here we're gonna emphasize that by adding two leaves right up front the next flower that we're going to add is a special gerbera called blue eye this is also grown by rosa flora and i love the coloration cuz look at there's almost a lavender cast to that it's absolutely gorgeous notice how we're layering those over-the-top very short ones and longer ones so that we get a very strong focal area of those go breasts they're hanging out right over these beautiful philodendron leaves that came from amy's orchids it's actually quite amazing because I've already made over 25 placements of flowers into this and I still have plenty of foam for my other additional flowers we've got some black baccarat roses from you Floria we'll bring some of those out in the back now in between our Gerber's will add some foxtail fern from fern trust these great dark-colored calvess will use those to accentuate off the other side now the arrangement that we're making is actually grouping flower stems together it's an easy way for us to create a beautiful design and also it adds emphasis it's interesting because we've got the arrangement in the back to show us how with traditionally we would design an arrangement symmetrically even placements all the way across but in this case we've grouped them and had them jut out from different sides the common thread for this is the snapdragons that carry from one side to the other my last flower is an unusual orchid from AMI it's called Tiger Tail it's only available at certain times of the year and it's absolutely exquisite so we want to be able to use it and make it a very important a part of our arrangements when it is available okay that's looking really good our last step is to add it just some Tufts of ribbon that will hang out the front of the arrangement got this beautiful ribbon from Reliance I'm gonna take this and tie it together trim our ends and take our stick and push that directly into the phone it's looking great since I've added all these flowers now I can go ahead and add water to the back of the arrangement making sure that we fill it up completely we want to make sure that we've got plenty of water for all of our flowers that's the great thing about the designer earned there's plenty of room for water and that's going to ensure my flowers will last as long as they possibly can at syndicate sales they're always developing and creating new containers for us great containers that allow us to design better syndicate sales is there to help the flower industry until next week keep having fun with flowers
