preparation is a must firstly wash the window with sugar soap using a clean cloth or sponge scrape off any loose paint and fill any gaps then completely sand the window and remove any sanding residue mask of the surrounding areas to avoid paint splatter in accidents push the sash up until it's three inches from the top and spot Prime any troubled or repaired areas stir your paint with a flat stirrer remove excess paint by tapping the brush on the side of the can it's best to paint the inside sash first starting in one corner and working your way around paint quickly using long strokes don't dab your paint move on to the section next to the window called the runner start in the same corner as before working your way around finish the window by painting the frame and finally the seal allow a minimum two hours between coats and leave the window open for 24 hours before closing to avoid the window sticking
