Hi I'm Mat from eSpares.
In this video I'll be showing how to change a belt on a Hotpoint or Indesit vented tumble dryer. If you machine is running but it's not spinning the clothes in the machine it's likely you have a broken belt
and it needs replacing. Safety first always unplug the appliance
before carrying out any work. The next thing I need to do is
to remove the top of the appliance by undoing these two
screws at the back. The next thing I need to do is
to remove the kick strip at the bottom on your machine you may need to use a
flat-headed screwdriver for this and then I can undo this screw and one underneath to help release the side panel The next thing I need to do is to remove the four screws at the back the hold the side panel in position. With the back screws out I now just need to remove the top screw and the internal cabinets screw there. With all the screws out I can now remove the side panel. To get a new belt on what I need to do
is too create a gap between the drum and the cabinet on the machine and how
I do that his to remove the screws down the side allowing me to move the back of the machine
and the drum away. Now before I fit the new belts I'm just going to take look at the old one. If your belt has burn marks along the break such as this it's likely that the motor has jammed or got
very hot and then burnt the belt. Now if that's the case or your machine is slow to start running it may mean that you need to replace the
motor capacitor as well. Easy to do and you can see me doing that in another video. To fit the new belt what I need to do is pull the back of the machine and the
drum away from the front and then drop it through the gap. With the belt over the drum I can relocate
the drum onto the front panel. With the drum in place I'm just going to re screw all
four screws that hold the side panel in place to make the cabinet more rigid so I can
fit the belt to the motor spindle. With the side panel and the drum secure what I need to do now is to stretch the belt over the motor spindle here. I'm going to be using a flat headed screwdriver for that
with a long neck you can also use a junior hacksaw handle
for this as well. And it's a good idea why you do
this to make sure that the drum doesn't come away from the front panel. All I need to do is to hold the cabinet in
place and spin the drum so the belt moves securely onto the motor spindle. With the belt in place is just a case
of putting the appliance back together. Side panel fits on by locating over the three hooks at the bottom and two locating tabs at the front of the
machine. now we have it one brand new belt fitted to this in
Indesit vented tumble dryer. Belts and all other accessories for all
makes and manufacture of tumble dryer can be found on the espares.co.uk website Thanks for watching.
