this is our first machine and I'm sure there'll be some improvements added to it this unit is made from a free 55-gallon plastic drum we built it and filmed it outdoors on a work table in less than two hours every single piece of material used was free and recycled first we measured and marked the drum the square made the job a lot easier starting five inches up from the base we cut a rectangle that was 10 inches wide and 18 inches tall we then drilled holes in the four corners so that we could easily start to save us all this makes the job much easier and neater we used a 1/4 of an inch drill bit after we drilled the holes in the four corners we just took the saber saw and connected the dots John used the saber saw and it did a really neat job after he cut the four lines we just lifted the piece right out this whole part of the job went very quickly just make sure you have the right blade for cutting plastic in your saber saw we turn the barrel sideways in order to make it easier to cut those shorter lines here's a little close-up and the finished hole that's all there is to this part of the project now we're going to make the feeding tray from an empty cat litter jug we just remove the label and cut a hole in the side of the jug using our trusty razor knife here's your completed feeding tray you can put salt up corn are both in then we glue the feeding tray to this cross in the bottom here is the completed feeding tray now we're going to make tick poison applicator flap it is made from a piece of scrap carpet it measures nine inches wide and 18 inches long we just marked it off and cut it with a razor knife here is the completed applicator now we're going to fasten it to the feeder we mark the center line and drill the pilot holes now we're going to Center the nine inch wide flap on to the hole and we're going to screw it in we mark two more holes using a total of three screws all together to hold the flap on this is how we do it and in the next view you will see the completed feeder notice we cut a v-shape in the bottom of the flap so the deer can stick his nose through into the tray apply tick killing spray once a week to the flap so we'll rub on the deers head when he feeds if you have cats use a spray that is non-toxic for cats read the label because some tick sprays will kill cats if you have questions our improvements please contact me and I'll be happy to listen and make improvements this has been a public service from battery chem biz thank you very much
