today I'm going to show you how
I mend and repair jeans you need scrap denim, I prefer to use
scraps with the same stretch and fiber content as the jeans I'm fixing if you're fixing a heavier pair of jeans
you should probably use a denim needle in your machine, you'll need scissors of course and thread to match your jeans and some basting glue first turn your jeans inside out and
smooth them flat. sometimes i trime the extra thread away around the whole or tear, and
sometimes I don't next I grab my scrap denim and cut a
rectangle slightly larger than the tear or hole. then I put basting glue all over the past and stick it to the
jeans. turn the jeans right side out very
carefully so the patch doesn't come loose at your machine, change the needle to a
denim needle if you're using one. thread your machine with the
color matching your jeans for the stitch I use either a regular
straight stitch or a three-step zigzag on the widest
setting possible I actually prefer the three-step zigzag
because the covers a larger area more securely but I'm using the straight stitch for this tutorial because all machines have that stitch then I just sew back and forth over the
hole or tear multiple times from all directions possible. I also sometimes
sew a circle or rectangle around the entire hole. You want it to be very sturdy. once you feel the hole is securely
patched and will hold up... you're done! now just trim the thread and, if you want, you can also cut away any excess denim around the patch. thanks for watching and check out my
