hi I'm farm-to-table chef TECA Thompson at TECA Thompson calm today I'm going to show you how to sow mustard seeds so AB selected an area that's been pre weeded and fertilized in my garden and I'm just going to make and I'm not actually going to make rows but I'm just going to make little lines for them the seeds to fall in and then I'm just going to cover them up so you want about 6 inches 6 to 9 inches apart between your mustard so I'm just going to make three little lines here and you want to you want to throw the seeds about 1/2 to 1/4 of an inch in the ground so I always like to take off my gloves when I'm working with small seeds because I find it's easier to handle and we're going to plant the seeds today about three inches apart and this is going to allow us to select the strongest plants and we're going to actually thin them out once they sprout and grow to about nine inches apart so I'm going to go one two three four six seven eight 11:12 alrighty so put my remaining seeds back in here and put my gloves back on now mustard seeds will take about 10 days to Germany and that's when the plant starts to pop up out of the ground and then after that when it's got about three leaves on it you want to UM you want to thin them out and just keep the strongest best ones for your garden alright so now we're just going to give them a little water it's always good to soak them in with a little water and let them get adjusted to their new home and voila I'm farm to table chefs TECA Thompson at TECA Thompson calm that is how to sow mustard seeds in your garden thank you for watching you
