Hi, guys. John here with roadtrek.com. Today I wanna show you how to install this
Extang Express tonneau cover on this 2016 Ram. Okay, guys. We've got our tonneau out of the box. You can see here it comes complete with everything
we need to put it on the truck. It comes with our instruction sheet, clamps,
the bolt clamps. It even comes with its own tool to tighten
the clamps up with. Our side rails which are, by the way, pretty
nice looking side rails. Have some foam rubber seals on both edges
to keep it sealed up along with our hook and loop to keep it closed up nice. Plus it has really nice latch here for locking
and unlocking if you can get it open and closed. And it comes with our tonneau cover with the
slides so you can easily remove this from the truck if you need to use the whole bed
of the truck for something. So let's get this on the truck. The first thing we're gonna do, guys, is attach
our side rails. We'll take this backing off of our foam so
that way it seals really good. Plus you really don't want to keep this paper
on there. This has two sections because it's got the
double seal on it here. Make sure you take both these off. Now, these are marked driver and passenger
side, but in case they're not for some reason when you get this, make sure the driver's
side is the one with the latch at the back. So we're gonna set that up on there. And we're just gonna take some clamps here
and just to hold this in place so we can get everything set up without having to worry
about it falling off on us. Then we're gonna take our clamps and these
clamps are a little bit unique in comparison to a lot of other tonneau side rails. Because the way these work is you have this
new premium style of thing right there on them and the threaded part. Now it's gonna go actually up inside here
like this. Now let me just grab this other one here real
quick and I'll show you exactly what I'm talking about is how it actually goes in. You can see in here that this is the channel
in here. So the part that actually has the threaded
bolt it's actually gonna slide up inside that channel and then on the other side you have
your hex head screw that's gonna screw through to hold the clamp to tighten the clamp up
underneath the bed rail of the truck. Go ahead take this one that I've got in my
hand and get it started here in the center. Put it up on here. Get this screw started through here. Now, remember I said it came with the tool
to tighten these up which is kinda neat because you don't even have to have any tools. And I'm gonna just snug this down just a little
bit to hold it in place until we get them all on and get this thing situated exactly
the way we want it. So we've got that set on. We're gonna go ahead and work here in the
front. You'll see there's a few holes in here for
the clamp bolts. You want to make sure that
you get these as close to the ends of the rail as possible so that way they actually
hold better. This one started in here. I don't know about you guys, now, but I've
installed a lot of tonneau covers over the years, and this is probably the simplest,
easiest clamp set up I've ever seen. [inaudible 04:27] Pretty easy to use. Pretty user-friendly. We wanna make sure we got this all set in
place. Everything is good to go. Then once it is, go ahead and tighten these
down. I like to start in the center. Come down here in the center, and then work
to the ends. And just like any time you're working with
anything that's aluminum threaded, you don't wanna over tighten it. All you want this thing to do is stay on the
truck. Okay, get this one. Get this rear one. I'm gonna jump over and do the one on the
other side. It's gonna attach exactly the same way this
one did. The only exception is when you look at it,
this latch is gonna be towards the cab instead of towards the bed, so keep that in mind when
you're putting these rails on. Driver's side towards the tailgate, passenger
side towards the cab. All right, guys. One of the final steps in putting our tonneau
on to our truck is to actually attach it to the side rails. Now this is kind of unique style here the
way this attaches. The tonneau cover itself has this edge right
here, and then the rails have kind of like a notch on this block. What we're gonna do is we're gonna put this
edge down into this block, and then we're gonna snap the cover down. And then we have these slides and these slides
are actually...once we have it latched down, we're gonna slide these over. Then turn this neuro nut to lock it down,
and that's gonna help doubly secure this into place. So let's get this on All right, once that's locked down, then we
can take those slides and slide them over. And you wanna just slide them over until the
end of them hits the side of the rail itself, and then tighten up the neuro nut and that's
gonna hold this down and in place. Just make sure that when you do that you look
underneath [inaudible 07:25] break it. Just make sure it actually goes underneath
the lip of the side rail. All right, we're gonna take the straps off
and unroll our cover. Just keep rolling this out. Here latch it into the back. Now, when you guys latch this into the back,
something that you'll make notice here is that it actually latches into these back sections
the same way it latched into the front. So latch it in. [inaudible 08:16] down. Lock it in place and then I'll move [inaudible
8:20] and push it down so that it sticks on to our [inaudible 08:29]. Make sure that's pulled nice and tight when
you do that. If you have the tension correctly, you should
have a little bit of a drum so it sounds like so. So there you go, guys. That's how quick and easy it is to attach
the Extang Express tonneau to your truck. So remember, until next time, happy motoring.
