Please explain how to revive and maintain leather - leather cleaner / leather conditioner - chemical guys

What's up guys, thanks for joining us back
here in the Detail Garage. As you can see we are inside this Tesla and
the owner just got back from a cross country road trip where this car got thrashed. The interior is covered in dirt, hair, leaves
and all kinds of junk. Now we are going to take the time to safely
remove all of this without harming any of the surfaces and then we'll protect it so
that in the future it doesn't get this bad. Starting off with the leather you can see
there is dirt, hand prints, oils and leaves that are stuck in the stitching of the leather
and you can actually scratch leather by just wiping it away. So what we're going to do is blow out all
the small areas like the vents and seams of the seats, then using a small brush to remove
the remaining residue and then we can start vacuuming. To get started we're going to get this little
stuff out of here and work our way out from there. To get started I'm going to blow out the cracks
and crevices like I had mentioned and to do that I'll be using our JetSpeed Air Blower. What this has is multiple speeds so that I
can control as much of the debris and anything else from flying around in the car. So I have it on the lowest speed setting right
now and I'll blow off all the stuff on these leather seats and you'll see the control you
have. You can see it took care of most of the things
that were stuck in the crevices and the reason why you want to gently remove these kinds
of things is because if you dry wipe this off the surface you can actually scratch the
leather. It is hard to believe that you can scratch
leather but it is especially on sensitive leather like this Tesla. If you think it is hard to remove scratches
from paintwork try doing it to leather. We're going to finish blowing off all the
small areas and finish off the rest of the car. Now that I've knocked off most of that dirt
and debris that was stuck in the crevices we're going to get the remaining stubborn
ones. This is out best detailing brush with a little
bit of Leather Cleaner for lubrication we'll work it to get the last stuff out. You probably noticed that I blew all the stuff
onto the carpets which is fine for now because we haven't done any vacuuming so it is best
to get the heavy filth taken care of now. The Best Detailing Brush took care of all
the dirt that was stuck in the small areas such as the vents. Just working back and forth gently picking
up anything that may have blown back into the air vents this way when you turn the a/c
on it won't blow dirt in your face. Now that we've got most of the intricate areas
detailed, I wanna wipe down the dash real quick using the Leather Cleaner while I still
have it out. This is going to take care of any of the airbourne
debris that we might have kicked up using the blower. The interesting thing about this dash is it
has a suede pattern here and also a leather pattern up here. It's okay to get Leather Cleaner on top of
suede although it is a sensitive surface that takes special care to clean just don't get
any protectants on it but the Leather Cleaner takes care of the loose dirt, body oils or
anything that might embed the surface this way we can get the entire dashboard looking
fresh and clean and fully detailed. Already this interior is looking a lot better. Now that we've gotten the smaller more tedious
areas cleaned we can move on to vacuuming the bulk of this dirt out of here. Before I get started vacuuming I want to mention,
when you use your vacuum it can be dropped on the attachments causes gouges and scratches
on the plastic which can become a sharp edge that perforates leather causing tears or cracks. So before you start make sure it's not sharp
and you are ready to go without harming any surfaces. As I was vacuuming I noticed there are hairs
and fibers that are tangled in the carpet, a little trick is to take a Nifty Brush and
lift the fibers of the carpet or floor mat and that makes it easier to remove anything
that is trapped. You can see it is rejuvenating the fibers
making it easier for a protectant to bond to the fabric. I've just finished vacuuming the floor mats
and the carpet in this Tesla now we're moving on to the leather. Using some Leather Cleaner in a Professional
Spray Bottle, this is the same cleaning power just in a larger quantity. I'm going to spray it onto our new Premium
Select Interior Cleaning Brush. This is a soft horse hair brush which can
contour and get into all the crevices of the leather without harming it. It is also going to lift up any oils or grime
that is stuck in the hide to bring back that natural leather feeling. Starting at the bottom of the seat I'm working
in circular motions which is going to help create a foaming action that is lifting any
oils or grease that is staining the leather to restore that natural feeling. Leather collects body oils, lotion and anything
that is on your skin because if you think about it, leather is still a skin so it has
the same absorbing properties as your body. It is going to trap anything that you pass
along to it through your skin and that is what fades and discolors it over time. So by using the Leather Cleaner it is pulling
it out so that we can apply a natural protectant to make it last as long as it can. After working the Leather Cleaner into the
surface it has pulled off all that gross contamination. Just using a tan microfiber towel I'll wipe
off the spent product. The reason why I've gone with tan is because we've designated all of our towels to do specific jobs. So tan is for leather and this way we don't
use it on other surfaces such as wheels, exterior or engine bays that would make these towels
super dirty. So after buffing off this seat it feels super
smooth, this is how you want your leather to feel , nice and supple. Before I move on to the rest of the car I'll
just take a moment to protect this seat. Using our Leather Conditioner and this is
going to keep it soft while bringing back that leather scent but it is also protecting
it against harmful UV rays or anything that can stain the surface. First, I'll shake it up. To coordinate with our towels I'll use a tan
applicator and a few strips of conditioner this way we can work it into the leather. Since this leather has stitching, we're going
to spread out our product like so. This is reducing build up in crevices or stitching. Just working it back and forth into the leather
and now it is absorbing it and it is feeding it these natural nutrients to help it last
as long as it can. The reason why you want to protect your leather
is because harmful UV rays can cause it to dry out just like your skin causing cracking
or discoloring which eventually will lead to failure that results in costly repairs
so by taking the time now to clean it and protect it will save you effort in the long run. So after giving the Leather Conditioner a
chance to bond to surface it has started to dry. I'll use a clean microfiber towel to buff
off the excess for a natural cool matte sheen. Before using any new microfiber towels tear
off the tag to prevent scratching glass and paintwork, also when using it on leather it
picks up all the product instead of smearing it around. Buff it off to that cool matte sheen. The surface feels really smooth which is what
you want your leather to feel like and it is also reviving that rich leather scent. Now that the seat and arm rest are looking
better, I'm going to follow the same procedures for the rest of the vehicle. We're just about ready to wrap up the interior
detail of this Tesla. Starting with a vacuum we took care of all
the loose dirt and debris that covered this interior, then using our Leather Cleaner it
removed the embedded contaminants like oil and grease to give this leather that natural
feeling and to protect it we used Leather Conditioner which restored that leather scent
and soft supple feel. As a last step I'm going to use Fabric Guard
and it is a fabric protectant which creates a barrier that repels water and dirt while
rejuvenating the fabric surfaces for a factory look and feel. It is super easy to use, all you need to do
is spray it on in a fine mist and let it dry. You don't need to buff this off just let it
penetrate and dry and it will create its barrier. So to check out these products go to our website

a thumbs up. We'll see you guys next time right here in
the Detail Garage. Nick: As I was vacuuming I noticed there were
some embedded fibers and some grime..... Siri: I missed that.
