hi everybody it's Lisa FL from sentence days tonight we're going to make rock candy hi everybody its lisa from Sutton's days today we're going to make hey everybody its lisa from Sutton's days and fill today we're going to make stained glass candy okay so we've got all of our ingredients here we're going to kind of go through Phil's gonna add them we need we're gonna do a double batch because you know I've never done it before and phil has and so we don't have a clue really what we're doing combined so we're just going to go for the gusto so we're doing four cups of white sugar so you're four cups of white sugar in your pot we already attached the candy thermometer oh it's easier to do when it's cold then when it's hot so it's been many years since filming this candy I've never made this candy I've had people bring it in and it's always good it's a nice little treat so this year we're gonna make it picked up a whole bunch of different flavors got orange cream and bavarian cream and banana cream and Kona coffee and caramel and toffee and all kinds of flavors I'm kind of little crazy on the flavors but we're gonna give it a shot I'm not really much for your tutti-frutti flavor so I like more of the vanilla butter nut yes okay so we had four cups of white sugar next he's going to add two cups of water mm-hmm okay and the next he is going to add one and one third cup of Karo syrup light syrup Carol's a name brand it's not even what we have is what I was grew up calling it so one on one third cup of light corn syrup and get that all in the pot then this is where the kind of boring part comes in so we're going to turn on the heat we're going to mix it all up until you can't feel the sand of the sugar anymore and then we are going to get it to 300 degrees and it's going to be boiled and then we will be back because that's when we add the flavoring and that's when we add the color but first we got to get it all stirred up and ready to rock and roll back in a few and she starts to boil at 200 Duncan ah hundred more degrees to go and the fun begins okay so we hit 300 degrees and now we're going to add the flavoring so normally recipes call for a teaspoon of peppermint oil or whatever the case may be these are concentrates and we're using chocolate and caramel and so because they're concentrates we are using a quarter teaspoon so and we're doing full no apparently there's no color what are we gonna do for color yeah we will we need to do something here quickly it smells awesome no there's no brown so let's just do we're fine without color okay so no color but it's going to be caramel chocolate blend it's a double batch which is why we put the extra in he's going to pour it right onto the cookie sheet look at that get the panel emptied out and then we'll make sure that it's evenly distributed to some extent I think our counter Donna we're going to thank you wanted ok ok so Phil's working on the tilting and the tottering it's beautiful out it's the warmest winter that I can recall for quite a while so we are going to put so we are going to put this on the deck to cool it off a little quicker ok so we'll be back in just a few minutes to take a look at that ok after just a couple of minutes it's solid but it's still warm so we'll be back okay we got ahead of ourselves we brought it in we started smashed it and then we remember the video so we cracked a little piece here because it's still pretty still pretty warm in the middle but we've cracked a few pieces here and for a double batch we think we could have added just a little bit more flavor but it tastes kind of like what's it taste like Phil word there's a ridge oh but don't tell the where there's folks so we're just gonna let it do its thing cool off a little bit more and then we're gonna all cracked up and well well look at that pretty cool get it all cracked up and put a jerk ok so we did a double batch um so i will put the single batch recipe in the description section below for you to use I thought it was just really anything because I've always seen people making it but I never knew how to and the videos that i have found out there in the instructions i have found out there differ a little bit on how to do it so we thought it would be a really fun video to make taste really really good and we hope to talk to y'all real soon have a really great you
