Please explain how to purify water in the wilderness

uh hello youtubers this is my eighth video and in this video i will be showing you how to purify water in the wilderness so um say you're on a uh camping or hiking trip and you get lost so you understand oh i have to stay here for the night but you already drank your water because it's you know a hot summer's day and so you need more water but you know you were prepared because you were hiking you were there since you know lunch so you brought some dinner not a huge dinner maybe just i don't know some beef jerky an apple something like that but you'd probably wrap the apple in plastic wrap or um some of this which is uh like toilet paper or not you wouldn't wrap it in toilet paper um but you wrap it in some sort of you know tissue paper like substance you might even put in a plastic bag but for this i would put i'm just saying that you know maybe you have a paper towel roll and if you you know brought some paper towel wrap that wrapped your apple with that then um believe it or not this would be able to purify your water along with rocks which is kind of weird and also along with some salt but uh the salt yeah the the salt you wouldn't have you know a salt shaker like this but if you find some hickory if you boil it in water over the fire then it creates a salt so i'm just salt of some sort and then if you want you could use sand i'm not but you know i guess you could and then the star of the show the dirty water so this is you know actual dirty water you can see the sticks and how murky it is and so i will be starting it so this will not make it 100 clean but it'll make it drinkable and it will definitely keep you alive for the time being but if you want it perfectly clear and to get rid of the salt then you should boil it over boil some of the water over the fire and then it'll get rid of the salt and impurities and kill the bacteria but this is this also works if you want to drink it so this is good for stagnant water or dirty water or anything along those lines so first what you want to do is you want to get your paper towel and you want to put your rocks um it's the best if you put smaller rocks like you know pebble-sized but you know take what you can get so you wrap these up it doesn't have to be neat just wrap them up and then you might wanna you know if you want if you have enough then you can do a second layer but i'm not going to because most people don't bring you know a whole roll of paper towel or anything so uh now that you have it like this then you should put one layer over it and lift it up and put sorry one layer under it so that's kind of flat but i'm using a cup so for this i'm going to fold it like you know you fold burgers go like that and then you know so you put it over here this is a clear cup i'm using so that you can see it and oh sorry uh i forgot um you could add the salt right here you can have the salt um somewhere it doesn't really matter where i'm i'm gonna put some in the cup and i already put some on my paper towel but it's best to put it where the rocks are that's okay so so just to let you know the salts on the top of this on top of this huge ugly pile with the rocks in the middle and so here we go so probably get a little messy but nothing a dish towel or when you're in the wild this won't even matter you know so you know since i'm putting this inside i'm just going to put some a dish towel here just because you know it's it's a stove so don't want to mess that up so here you go now do you see how the impurities stay there or top and if you can see the dirt also stayed there so you know if you want cleaner water then you could do this more than once but you know this is still drinkable so just let it drip in give it i don't know you should give it about three to five minutes but i'm only going to give it like 20 seconds or so so in the meantime i just want to say that if there's any you know bug larvae because it's uh you know stagnant water then uh this would obviously get them to float or to stay up here so that can't get into your drinking and um the bacteria most of it will end up getting caught actually because there's so many layers but sometimes it might actually not get caught it might go through and that's why you should boil it after so see oh yeah look at that look at that it's just a little bit because i didn't wait very long but do you see how it's clear there's just there's some of the salt on the bottom which you can boil off but like if you gave it more time it's nice and clear so it goes from the murky water to into here and getting all that on the top to clear water with you know salt in the bottom which you can boil off and you know really you don't actually need salt i just used it because it filters it even more because they're small grains so yeah um thanks for watching feel free to watch some of my other videos and please rate comment and if you want subscribe so thanks for watching and have a good day bye
