Please explain how to remove tarnish from silver jewelry

hi I'm Corey and today I'm going to teach you how to clean your silver jewelry at home using common household items to do this process we're going to use two cups of boiling water a pyrex dish baking soda about a third of a cup salt about teaspoon an aluminum foil two things about using the aluminum foil first you'll want the shiny side of the aluminum foil facing up second you'll need to use a clean piece of aluminum foil each time you repeat this process now we're going to take the aluminum foil and line the Pyrex pan with set our jewelry down inside you want it to be making contact as much as possible with the aluminum foil so try not to let your chains or other pieces overlap or get propped up on top of one another for the next step we are going to add our baking soda into the two cups of boiling water give it a little stir it's going to foam up a little bit and then we're going to add in our one teaspoon of salt again I'm going to get a little bit of a boil and then pour this mixture over the jewelry in your aluminum line tray now we're going to see little bubbles forming on the surface of all the jewelry those little bubbles mean that it's working what's happening during this process is a chemical reaction occurring between the tarnish on the silver the baking soda salt and the shiny side of our aluminum foil the tarnish gets pulled off of the surface of the silver and is attracted to our aluminum foil when the reaction is slowed down and the water is cooled you can remove your jewelry from this mixture and give it a good rinse and here's a before and after of how this cleaning process worked on our jewelry on the Left you're seeing the original with tarnish still on it on our right is the cleaned pieces of silver jewelry
