did you know that there are 79 minerals and trace elements in seaweed and using seaweed it is so pretty aware of bringing in copper manganese potassium phosphorus iron and zinc to the soil in a plant available form did you know about well I had an inkling but I didn't know it in not much detail but I do now because I've seen it on Wikipedia so I'm bringing that information to you courtesy of Wikipedia all that in seaweed 79 trace elements so if we can compost B seaweed down break it down get it into our soil then we've delivered 79 trace elements the possibility of delivering that many trace elements into the soil wow that's got to be good that's gotta pack some punch this is a video update of a video that I shot a month ago the beginning of September as we staff to move into autumn in the UK and we're now in the beginning of November so we've got one autumn month behind us and that video or smallest compost pile in the world in that video we chopped the mix of seaweed leaves and we sat it on pots on these buckets those 10 inch buckets 10 inch pots and that was our smallest compost pile in the world now before it before I should be soaked it what I want to do is I want to clip in a very short piece of video now from that original video and then come back to me and I'll explain what this video is about okay so this is our pot there's the soil this would have gone potatoes all week so character I've already told you that this will have grown a crop this year and we are going to use after six month it'll be full of life we want to sustain that like we want that life to work for us while we're indoors during the cold winter months we want this to be getting better and the candle and it will do if you follow this simple advice walk here now we're not going to cover this over there will be no smell there be more slime there'll be no flies dopey more rats they'll be north vermin to be more mice just good all some compost on there being attacked by the elements from above and the worms and the microorganisms from below and by the time six months ago you won't even know this stuff is being on there it'll evolve disappeared if not all of it most of it anybody that does composting will tell you that you can have a compost pile as big as big as you like but in so many months time it'll be half as big because it breaks down and when this breaks down where do you think it's going sorry one place he can go didn't that sign this is the smallest compost pile in the world there you go how easy was that how easy was that now this will stand in the garden now for six month and I've got another 40 or 50 pots just like it it'll be covered with cough what's just like this small compost piles this will feed everything that's in that pot and the elements will love to break it down and push it further and further into that pot so that by the spring of next year this will be ready to go and basically what we do then in the spring of next year we turn this pot out completely mix it all make sure there's a good mix probably add some fertilizer burn it in the pot plant something bish bash Bosh how good is that you're going to do this I know you are and if you haven't got the seaweeds to go with the leaves grass if you haven't got the lawn mower or the shredder to chop everything off garden shears you've no excuses you've got to give this shot you've got to okay so you saw what I did there if you want to watch the haul of that original video I'll put a link in below this video but okay what is about that okay composting now for a month we're going to compost there autumn of winter this is winter composting and in the spring of next year we're going to grow vegetables in those buckets okay we've already done that this year we want to inject some goodness back into the soil and so we built these small compost piles on top of each book net and what we said was that in the following six months all of that would probably disappear we'll check this out after walk mom this compost is now nearly 2 inches below the rim of this pocket check out where the compost was when I first put it in the buckets check this out okay so I think you can see from that that the compost was probably two three four inches above the level of this bucket and it was overflowing and look at it now after one month it's disappeared in just as we said it would it's disappearing and where's he disappearing to just as we said it would into the soil in the buckets it's breaking down now that I'm fairly confident that if I left this week in another few month you wouldn't say any of it but what we want to do is we want to keep this going now now that we've got it going we want to keep it going because we've got worms and microorganisms in those pots and Lionel's given them some food so that they can supercharge the pot oven with more so what we're going to do is we've got to top these guys up and then just set them to one side again let this process continue for the rest of autumn and winter but what we're going to top these guys are with I'm just cut my lawn and war probably the last time this year so I've got some grass and the other side some leaves so this time we've already top those off with a mixture a chop next year of grass and leaves so we've got the grain we've got the brown we've got what we want let's top those guys off excuse me boy that's it a mixed chop mixture of grass and leaves and we'll simply do this how was it Oh easy is this and if you're not doing this as I've already said you should be shouldn't you thought to leaves it out in his order you may have just recently cooked you on and have your grass do a mix chop and drop it okay so that's it we've really built the smallest compost piles in the world again what's it based in what's tonight I don't see how they go on hope you've enjoyed this video and if you out give me a thumbs up if you haven't subscribed you might want to but in any case communicate come back to me we'll talk about composting on pots composting on buffets winter composting okay so this is million from me and Molly this is one grown signing out come on
