Please explain how to light charcoal in the good one heritage oven

Randee with rash Lee's border queue and today we're just gonna take a short look at how to start a fire in the Goodwin series of cookers so I've got about a two inch layer of lump charcoal in the bottom today we're using the Goodwin lump charcoal it's good stuff real reliable it doesn't pop too much like some of the other brands do we're gonna use some of these wax lighter cubes put about three of them in there to get it started and then after it started five ten minutes or so we'll put another layer a lump on top of that let me get it going have those let's go ahead and get those three starters lit we'll give them five to ten minutes I'm gonna rake a little charcoal around them then get it started without covering them up too much so they can breathe there we go well let them go we'll come back ten minutes put another layer of charcoal we'll be ready to start our ribs our three cubes are they've got the charcoal let I'm gonna go ahead and drop a chunk of mesquite wood in here right there where the fire is burning we're gonna top it off with some of the charcoal we took out when we did our clean-out earlier today we use it I'm gonna leave the vents wide open I've got the damper wide open on this side and let that run for another ten minutes or so and we'll be ready to put some ribs on okay the fire is pretty much started I can see lots of red glowing embers in there and I've already shut down the top two vents up here down completely closed and then I open them back up two turns we're gonna do the same to the bottom vents now completely closed and then we'll open it a half one and a half to do the same to the other one that's pretty much it for starting a fire the damper is still wide open over here on this side all the way open is our temperature gets up to about 225 we'll shut that damper down and so it doesn't overshoot too much try to stabilize it at about 240 to 260 that's where we're gonna try to cook today so that's it for starting the fire we hope you all will stay tuned we're gonna be doing ribs here in a little while y'all come back now Randy with rations border cue saying adios
