I'm Whitney this is Kevin for comfort welcome back to my channel today's video I'm going to talk to you about three ways that you can make your home smell welcoming and inviting for whatever season whether it's fall or winter spring or summer have some really easy tips for you ranging from and invest what you could make at a purchase you can make it's a little bit larger all the way down to using your leftovers to make your house smell good how about that so stay tuned for that that's coming at the end of the video so I want to tell you how important this video is to me because you may not know this I do not have the ability to smell can't never have never will probably have the ability to smell it's not an allergy thing I don't have a cold I just can't smell so in order to make my house smell good I have to make a conscious effort because I'm never actually aware of how things smell so I have some very strategic things that I do to make my house smell good the first thing that you need to think about though is that you don't want to just cover up bad smells like food or pets or maybe smoke whatever you have you know going on in your home or even bad things in the air like mold or dampness or things like that you don't want to just cover those up you want to get rid of those first and then you want to bring in some nice smells so the first thing you need really is clean air obviously right so I had a company reach out to me and asked if I would be interested in reviewing their air purifier I've never had one and I was really excited because if you don't know I have two cats so I'm sure there are pet smells we have a small brick ranch house so it's not a large home the cats live all over the house so there they do make smells and so I want to be able to get rid of the smells to welcome my I guess so they sent me their air purifier and we have loved it I'm really excited to share with you it may be something that you're unfamiliar with as I was so hopefully this will be helpful for you so let me tell you a little bit about the air purifier for tip number one so here it is right there it's really small this is by a company called IT vanilla and it is really tight I'm going to show you how it works it's very very simple to up when I got out of the package I just took off some plastic wrap plugged it in and we were ready to go it's really simple to use you can just turn it on pick what speed you want and it just runs I'm gonna be quiet for a minute so you can hear the different sounds that it makes this is the night time change the speed like regular like a very quiet fan and then there is heavy I have different light colors that you couldn't change it so it's running right now on the other side of this camera you can't really even hear it I love how quiet it is and also if you turn it on even full-blast and also kind of doubles as a white noise machine it's just a nice constant really good white noise you could use in your kids nursery we actually use it in our bedroom a few nights ago just to kind of test out the sound and the light as well it does not you can turn the light off if you want to but even that light that they put on there is actually one that doesn't bother your sleep it just just is really calming we really enjoyed it so you can because it's so small you can carry from room to room it takes about ten minutes once you plug it in turn it on it takes about ten minutes for it to completely clean the air in your room which is pretty great I like this air purifier because it clears the air of not only pet smells but also allergens in the air which is very welcoming to my guests I have a lot of people that come over that are allergic to cats so I like to have this running while people are here and it really keeps the pet allergens down which is really really great it's important to me that people aren't miss rolling there in my own this air purifier is sold on Amazon so like everything else on obviously I don't know any difference and I think it would really make a difference for you as well let's go to tip number two so tip number two has to do with the location where you place your fragrances whether it's a candle and a Glade plugin and a reed diffuser whatever you use put one by your front door look at this this is my little welcoming station right here by our friend or you've seen this before in other videos I'm sure see a little candle right there here's my door right there you can see it in the corner in the video people walk in I have this little tiny candle it's from Dollar Tree one dollar I just put it right there so that when they walk in the door that's the first thing they get is that little with whatever candle I have right in there makes a huge difference so you could use a Glade plugin you could use a reed diffuser or whatever it is that you like and just put them by your front door so that when your company your husband your children whoever it is whenever they walk in they just immediately are hit with that really good smell and I feel welcomed immediately my last tip is the one I promise that cost you almost nothing and uses your leftovers I'm sure you have all seen tips on Pinterest or Facebook Instagram where you make potpourri and put it on your stove and let it simmer what if you use the things that are leftover are going bad to make your potpourri for example I have I always have apples in the fall we might have oranges during the winter and occasionally you can tell they're kind of toward the end of their time or a lemon that you use half of it for your roast chicken and it's just hanging out in the fridge whatever you have slice it up throw it in a saucepan cover it with water add a few extra things I'll put some recipes in the description box down below you can kind of use to maybe put together a few different recipes that you go to the one I'm using right now is with apples we're in the fall as I'm filming this so if I have an apple that's gotten a little like grainy or they're mushy and they're just not good to eat I don't wanna throw them away I'll slice it up put it in a saucepan with a few sprinkles of cinnamon not even cinnamon sticks a splash of vanilla cover it with water and let it simmer on the stove it makes the whole house smell good I did that a couple days ago my husband walked in he was Oh smells like fall in here that's always a win for me because I don't smell it but I love it when he smells it enough to actually comment on it but I do have one little word of warning for you this is so funny it's not funny it's scary I did this a couple days ago I've been simmering this potpourri on my stove for a couple weeks now it's my new thing I put a lid on it because it was cold water and I wanted to come temperature really quickly put the lid on it and I walked away remember I can't smell I forgot about it I came down the hall about a half an hour later and this entire living area right here was filled with smoke number one I don't know why my detectors didn't go off I need to check on that and those apples were crispy and they are still I've been soaking that pan for about three days and they were still stuck in the bottom of the pan so if you use this tip don't leave the room if the water evaporates you have a big mess so just be careful so that's my little tip it
