Please explain how to make a tutu (no sewing)

Hi, I am Jessica with Paper Mart (www.papermart.com). Today I am going to show you how to make this fun, girly tulle tutu. It is perfect for the ballerina in your life or just for someone who wants to pretend they are for the day. All the supplies you will need are various colors of tulle. These are our 6" spools from Paper Mart. We have many different styles to choose from. We have polka dot tulle, Animal print tulle, shimmer tulle, and glitter tulle, lots of colors. We have tulle bolts, so you can cut the tulle to the size that you want. You are also going to need a pair of scissors, some ribbon. I am using 1-1/2" Pink Satin Ribbon. Paper Mart is the largest discount distributor in the United States, so we have lots of ribbon to choose from. You will love it. Let's get started. First thing you need to do is measure the waist of the little girl you are making the tutu for. I already went ahead and did that already. After measuring, you have to cut the ribbon to the size of her waist. You are going to tie knots at each end of the ribbon to the length of her waist. You will leave two ribbon tails in addition. This is to tie the bow around her waist at the end. This ribbon from here to here should be her waist. Once we have done that, we are going to cut strips of tulle. This depends on how tall she is. If she is a taller girl, we will cut longer strips. This tulle I have cut to the length that I want times two. So I wanted it to be 18 inches and then we want to add an inch to that. 18 times 2 plus 1 equals 37. 37 inches is the length that I have. Take your ribbon and along the length of this ribbon We are going to start with one of our tulle colors. We are going to pull our ribbon in half and we are going to do slipknots along the length of this ribbon. Hole there, fold in half and pull through. Pull this tight. And we will keep doing this in different colors. I like to do three of them in a row in the same color, so we can get a nice effect. And then alternate as we go. Try to be careful here and make the slipknot on the same side each time. That way it is uniform. You can straighten them and pull them closer together as we go too. It is coming along with the pink, so I am going to use another color. Let's do some of the grey tulle. And I am going to show you how our white polka dot tulle looks like. You can create any type of pattern you want depending on the look you are going for. Just continue to do that along the length of the ribbon to the other side of the knot. Once you do that, you should have a nice full tulle tutu skirt. I hope you enjoyed making this project and I am sure the little girl in your life will love it.
