all right so today I'm going to be showing you how to make a self watering container using one water bottle so it's pretty straightforward first of all you get your bottle and I'll show you how to turn the one on the left to the one on the right it looks pretty straightforward but I'll show you how to turn it into a self watering container which involves put in the holes in the right places of the bottle so first of all you cut the top off it's pretty straightforward just make sure you can get the bottom or the top of the bottle inside the bottom of the bottle and just put a few holes around the side as I've done there and then the top the cap is very important then just push it in as I said is pretty straightforward nothing too complicated and then you simply put your plant of choice in there and water it I've chosen a citrus plant and any water that I put in there which the plant doesn't accept and is too too much for the soil will just drain out it will then go to the bottom of the bottle and as long as you make sure the bottom of the cap is fully submerged in the water it will stay as a self watering container as you can see just in the bottom of the bottle I've also put a few air holes just for aeration of the roots of the plant which is important for healthy plants as you can see there all the excess water is draining off I just put a bit more water to show you and I'm going to water it for the first watering I'm going to water it until it is the cap is fully submerged and that should ensure I shouldn't have to water it again maybe for another two weeks possibly free as long as the bottom of the cap is submersed so as you can see there that I've made sure the bottom of the cap is submerged in water and and all the water as well that I pulled through has drained out quite well and this is another plant that I've done this is a tomato plant as you can see you can do of any size any size plant and any size bottle it just ensures that you don't have to water it for a while making it a bit easier for you okay so that's pretty much it please don't forget to rate comment and subscribe give me any feedback you have and thanks for watching
