one, two, three, four! Rev up your engines! It's time for the Scotty Kilmer Channel if your car's AC is losing refrigerant very
slowly, then you've got a small leak in the refrigerant and that can be a
stinker to find, so today I'm going to show you how to fix small AC leaks using
ultraviolet leak dye, first thing you do is hook this up to the low side to
inject the dye into the system, here's the low side pressure line, you just hook
it up here and turn the handle once to inject the dye, then you put a little
refrigerant in it and run it to see where the leak comes out, now I already
put dye in this system about three months ago, it's taking it long for the
refrigerant to leak out, so I know the dye has already come out somewhere, put on these
funky yellow sunglasses that come with the kit and turn on in the UV light to
look to see where the dye is coming out check down by the compressor at the
seals and all the AC lines especially the ones that have rubber parts in them
that can leak, but in this case they're all dry and there's no dye showing
anywhere and I know a secret in this particular model Toyota, they have a lot
of problems with the condensers leaking so I'm going to check that next and then
when I check, there it is the green dyes come out on the top of the condenser and
needs to be replaced, just goes to show you where years of experience come in,
who's going to be looking way inside here for a leak, so it's time for a brand new
condenser and in this case you have to take the grill off, it actually snaps off
and then you can take all the bolts off that hold it in place, then take the top
cover off and remove the two lines that send refrigerant to the condenser, then
pull the line off and shove a little bit of a paper towel inside to keep air from
getting inside, same for the other line down here on the bottom and just grab
the whole condenser and pull it out of the way, now when we look at it with the
ultraviolet light, we can see that the green dye is everywhere, this is really
leaking the condenser is shot, then we just get the new condenser and put it back in
place then we put a little peg oil, AC oil on
the fittings so that they lubricate them and don't leak, get it dragged out pour a
little oil on all ring and then snap in place and then bolt it on nice and
tight and don't forget to put the bottom line on too, and now we have to
get the air out of the system, so I've hooked up with vacuum pump to suck it
out, you really want to run the vacuum pump for about an hour or so to get all the
moisture out of the system, so you can leave it running while you're putting
all the pieces back on, we'll just bolt all the pieces back on and snap the
grill back in, then you just fill the system up with refrigerant and I show
that whole process another one of my videos, how to feel your car's AC with
refrigerant and then you've got nice cold air again,
so the next time your AC system gets a slow leak, why not fix it yourself and

answer them as soon as I get back from this gasoline graveyard!
