hey guys it's Brian with you today we are going to do a little video here about not really backing up the boat but more loading the boat I'm loading the boat I'm loans not quite as difficult as it seems like the loading the boat is for a lot of guys so we're just gonna go through the steps back and down the ramp you know get the boat off I'm gonna be by myself today things will change a little bit if you're with somebody and I'll try to explain that as you know we go along in the video but we're gonna go back and down not really gonna take the boat off the trailer and have it drove on or any of that I'll be able to explain what I'm trying to talk about with just loosening the the tow strap and I'll show you guys what I mean by trying to get the boat in the right position trailer in the right position to get the boat on easier so as far as back in the boat in most of the time if you've got somebody with you you can just back down there you know undo the latch back down the ramp let them go and they fire up the boat and bring it if you're by yourself obviously you don't want to just let the boat go cuz you're not gonna be able to get it so then you're trying to figure out how to get the boat what depth of the trailer to get in the water without actually the boat floating off and leaving yeah a lot of times I undo my strap and then get in the truck and back up and I get it to a point where the the trailer it's just enough in the water that the boat actually is just starting to float off the bunks it's not it's still it's floating but it's not gonna like back off and you're not gonna be able to get into it it just it floats off and it floats just enough that it's free so when I get in and put the motor in Reverse it'll pull the boat off the off the bunks and and I can free the boat from the trailer another way you can also get a rope some guys will get a rope on you know undo their latch put a rope on it they'll back up let it flow it off and then pull it back forward with the with the the trailer forward get out and pull the rope up and bring the boat back to the ramp to them but the way I wind up doing it for the most part is I'll show you here in the mirror as I back down the ramp hopefully that's a turnout maybe I'll put down the window that way we won't have any glare as I back down the ramp I want to have it take my brake off here I'm going to get no try to be able to watch that watch the boat you'll be able to see the boat start to break free and kind of float up once we get so far in the water and kind of break free there it's floating that's gonna be too far because when I go down to undo the the ratchet strap the boats gonna want to continually float away and pull strap out on me so what I want to do is pull it up just far enough there that boat just sat right there that boat is just barely sitting on the bunks so when I get out to go on do it I can undo the strap it's still gonna be loose enough when I get into it and when I get in the boat and start the motor and back up it's gonna pull it off the bunk we get this thing too far in the water so that's why you don't want it you want it far enough the water that is barely floating but not gonna flow backwards on you like this oh I want it to be when I back this and boat off the water trailer that way when I go get on the water and put it reverse it'll pull the boat off the trailer without the boat slide in the way of me having to run a traffic engine now as far as putting the boat back on the trailer that becomes the trickier part every boat and every trailer sits a little bit different it's gonna take you a little time to figure it out but most of them are really close they're not that far off but each boat does write different each trailer writes different and from what I have found I've got a tandem axle trailer on this boat but what I have found even with a single axle on a tandem axle trailer you can act as if it's a single axle by putting the the trailer in the water the distance on the front tire just like you would on a single axle trailer so here on the trailer as you see that water is just about at the tire line that is exactly the same spot I would have it if I had it on a single axle trailer what that allow you to do is drive the boat up on the trailer and put your bow right where it is right there and allow you just to push it up on there and you won't be stuck if you get it too far up and say that step pad is not got water on it and I've only got the back tire in the water you're only going to get up about halfway and you're gonna have to keep back in the water to keep getting the trailer up or the boat up on the trailer so on a single axle trailer or on your tandem you want that water on that tire just the way it looks right there if you get it too far in the water what'll happen as you're gonna wind up pulling your bow up and your bow here is gonna wind up hitting your trailer here and I'll show you that here in a second all right what I've done is I've backed this trailer and what a lot of people do way too far as you'll see you can't see any of the fenders any of the wheels or nothing on that trailer the boat's completely floating I've left it tied up but this is what will happen when you come drive that in your partner comes and drives it in or you're out here by yourself and you're going to try to strap it on you're gonna drive it up and that's exactly what's going to happen you're too far in the water the boats coming in the motor the trailer is on an angle the boats coming in and you're gonna hit and wind up putting your bow underneath your roller I mean you hit that too hard you're gonna chip up the front of your motor or the you can hit your trolling motor you're gonna chip up the bow of your boat so when you're dunking your trailer to pick somebody up get your own boat do not have the fenders all the way under the water otherwise there's no way this is what will happen and this is you know on a flatter ramp around that's a lot flatter you may have to back it in the water a lot you know a lot farther but the water's still not going to be deep enough for you to bury the bury the fenders but that's what will happen right there almost every time and then everybody's mad they're banging into it they can't figure out how to get it up over top of that and the reason for that is you've just got the trailer too far in the water now I've pulled the trailer ahead a little bit farther so that we're back to where we were we've got a little bit of water just barely not quite to the top of the tire there I've left it with the slack that we had in the line on the on the rope now this is how that trailer this is how that boat would come in on that trailer if you weren't going to Ratchet it up and just drive it on you're gonna come in and now this bow is gonna miss here it's gonna come right up over that roller like it's supposed to and your Locker come right up in it's as simple as can be rolls up nice and easy I'll set this camera down and that there would be the proper way to have your bow and how to get the boat in again you want that tire you want that water just below the top of the tire there and the boat will come in nice and straight everything will latch in here and everything sitting nice and good and I make it away a lot easier when you're trying to load your boat if you just follow those few simple steps hopefully those few steps will help you put your boat on the trailer a little bit easier make it easier the next time you're out either by yourself or even if you have somebody with you obviously somebody with us a little easier you know get in the boat on and off you can have somebody in the boat somebody in the truck you know somebody doing both things where if you're by yourself it's a little more a little more time to go on about where you've got it so you're not gonna undo that tre undo to your tongue and and her the bow and have the boat float out from underneath you or when you pull it back up you don't have a far enough in or out you're trying to get it on and if you don't have a far enough in you got to get back out of the boat and in the truck and then back it back down so again just make sure on your tires you know your water is a halfway up that that front tire you know this being a tandem axle the back tire really doesn't matter that's gonna be under the water on a single axle trailer we just try to act as if this tandem is a single axle you just want that water right right about that level and each and every time you're in and out of the water you should hit your mark almost every time you're on there and all the only difference that will make is if you get on a on a flatter ramp you may have to get it out there that trailer I'll go down and kind of flatten out on you on a really super steep ramp sometimes you know you get a ramp that's quite a bit steeper you may have to pull it up get it locked on and then pull it up a little farther to ratchet it so you don't have that problem with a bow hitting your Rolle there on the front but hopefully these tips will help you get in and off the water a whole lot easier and a whole lot safer
