Please explain how to make hush puppies

I'm welcome to Nicko's kitchen once again today on what you want Wednesday a recipe request from Thaddius Maximus 909 and we're making hush puppies that's what you want what's you what you want first thing I want you to do guys is grab a large bowl into that I'm going to add our cornmeal mix now if you're in Australia just look for polenta okay it's the same thing to that I'm going to add our self-raising flour and I've got some chopped up green onions or spring onions or scallions whatever you want to call them I'm going to add them straight in you could use corn if you want to but I really like the green onion in this now for our wet ingredients I'm going to add in some milk and I'm going to add in one egg as well and give this a really good mix around now I know this is an American dish from the deep south but geez it almost looks Australian with that green and bold throw it doesn't now some of you will probably ask me Nico how did hush puppies get the name hush puppy well apparently in the deep south in the US hunters would give their dogs a similar sort of recipe they would give them something similar in order to hush the puppy so that's how they got their name so guys let this mixture stand for about five minutes okay don't touch it just leave it for five minutes now guys if you've got a deep fryer home by all means use it but I'm going to show you for those of you who don't have one how to do it just with a saucepan so vegetable oil straight in get it nice and hot now you might be able to hear just crackling away I put just a tiny tiny tiny amount of water into the oil when it starts popping I know it's hot enough or you could get a little bit of the mixture just drop it in and if it starts bubbling straight away you know you've got the oil temperature right so guys I've just rolled out Hush Puppies just into a ball just like that I'm just going to drop them straight in and you'll see they're bubbling away now they'll only need a couple of minutes we just want a nice golden-brown crust and that nice soft beautiful Center so guys just like that that beautiful golden brown color beautiful now let's do the rest now guys when you're working with hot oil as always be extra extra extra careful because if you don't do the proper safety precautions with oil your kitchen can explode guaranteed so just be very very careful if you're not confident well you don't know what you're doing don't do it or get someone that knows how to and guys when you take them out of the hot oil just drain them and get that excess oil on some paper towel and there you have a guys hush puppies they are so so good and they're so easy if you haven't tried this before give it a go now check this out just have a look that beautiful golden brown negative crust and then when I open that bad boy up look at that absolutely perfect let's give this a try sin-shoo from all the guys you could dip this into some tomato sauce ketchup some tomato chutney or just like me eat them just how they are because they are drop-dead gorgeous all the ingredients are below as usual check it out and give these a try you guys take care and I'll see you this Friday for fast food Friday you
