down on the basement carpet over top of concrete let me pull back this carpet and show you what takes place underneath the foam under pad look at the mildew and mold on the backside of that foam under pet caused from cold concrete moisture wicking up through the concrete and venting itself into the foam leaving that white residual behind which really causes real problems with anybody with allergies what's it caused from well the cold the moisture in fact look what the moisture will do with the hardware on the bi-fold doors the temperature of the floor 67 degrees Fahrenheit approximately 10% colder than what you would find during a heating season now this being the summer you can imagine how cold it might be in the wintertime warm foot is a multi dimple structure as we see here manufactured out of a high-density polyethylene material we place this material onto the concrete floor and essentially the multi dimples create a thermal barrier of air underneath the flooring in other words we put the plywood material on top which creates a sandwich effect with the air underneath stopping mildewed exactly simply take the rolls roll them out and and you can overlap as like that and also the material is very easy to cut with a razor blade knife you may occasionally and sometimes find because of the curl and the natural curl of the material has put a piece of tape here or a piece of tape there and the next thing down goes the plywood must be fairly strong with 3/8 plywood on top shell the strength factors incredible you can actually get up to a 15,000 pounds per square foot weight ratio with the plywood on top we use a masonry drill bit in a hammer rotating hammer drill with a depth gauge but yeah that with the depth thing so you know exactly how far to go into the concrete that's correct and what you do is once you drill in through the plywood surface board and the warm foot air gap into the concrete you end up going down into the concrete like that and then you take your your fasteners or professor and you put it down in there flush with the top of the plywood flush with it that's correct then a heavy hammer and you just wrap that down but if you planned on putting vinyl flooring down like tiles or vinyl than a multi ply approved underlay plywood would be screwed on top well the carpets back in and hole does it ever feel nice and warm and cozy down here 79 degrees what a difference
