hi everybody welcome back to our YouTube channel we're here today with our Neff ready to show you some of his amazing techniques while back we had a question yawning you are the man anyway a while back we had a we had a question about tension and we posted a video with really thick yarn and big fat needle and showed how to knit and how to control the tension the Norwegian way well this video was a success and we started getting loads of comments people asking us please can we show how we purl the same way so we've gone back to our stash and we have found even thicker needles no no se same okay so we've got same thickness of needles there had a really big impact and we've got thick yarn and we are ready to change your life because that's what a lot of people tell us when we teach them be Norwegian Pearl and our nur here is going to show you this amazing technique okay so take it away or now Hicks bring it on bring it on take it away okay so I just pearl there's nothing to say just really yeah first I slide the first stitch is I'm doing back and forth so the tension is the same you just put your yarn over your finger and you block it with the other finger and then when you purl you go under the yarn into the stitch from the back twist it and pick it up from the finger and go back the same way and slide it off and you see the tension is still it's a nice game the yarn is always on the finger so under and twist it back pick it up bring it to the front and slide it off there's the purl you see something I open the finger every now and then and just block it again to keep it tight this is the same over the finger and block it these noodles are so long they're going up to my sleeves well this is how we purl yeah and remember the tension is always there because you the distance from the finger to the needle is not very long don't think too much about what needle size a pattern says because if you are not comfortable using that size if the neat if the knitting is too loose or too tight to change the needle and that will help you control the tool don't try to control yourself and that's what we usually say and a pattern is only a guideline it's not written in stone like the Ten Commandments so you should just take it take that as a guideline read through it make a make a swatch see the detention and then just and remember when you twirl and knit back and forth like I do for me I had to control the tension watch the tension more when purling because if not the Pearl will be looser than the knit but that's the way I need that's why I always when I'm curled a few I always move the finger again to get the needles closer to the fingers when I knit I don't move the finger that much but for purling I have to be more careful see I lift it again and I put it on because you don't want to have looser stitches and tighter stitches you try to have the same tension on every stitch so no dominant color in this one okay so now we have now we've done the tension or knitting this is the tension on curling and we've also done one where we show the tension what we do color work two different colors so I think with all these basic techniques you have everything you need to start knitting the Norwegian way yes yeah and darkness says its life changing life changing if you learn how to delete the dis big needles it looks a little bit clumsy it looks like you look like you fell down that rabbit hole and you're you've shrunk and then the needles love's finish okay so please remember to subscribe if you like what you see and obviously there's no pattern today but there's love the free patterns that you can get on our website are Nicole's calm and there's loads of tutorials already out there that you can follow so now that you know how to knit and purl the Norwegian way you could knit socks you can make dolls and you can get anything from our pattern so enjoy happy knitting and see you again very soon and you
