so the first thing you need to do to roast our acorn squash is to cut the squash in half and scoop out the seeds using a spoon make sure you save those seeds for later and you can toast them and season them with amazing spices and having a great snack for your family and friends so then the next thing we have to do is season our squash so we're going to use our coarse ground kosher salt and put a nice amount of seasoning on there because the flesh is really thick and it needs a good amount of seasoning then we're gonna have our freshly ground black pepper and seasoned a little bit there and last we're just going to put some extra virgin olive oil and rub it gently on the inside of the skin and we're going to pour a little bit more in the baking pan and put your squash flesh side down skin side up and we're ready to go in the oven and now we just have to put our squash in the forage in the oven where we can leave it for about 25 minutes without checking it and then you're going to want to start checking it every 10 minutes or so to test your squash for doneness after you take it out of the oven you can gently press the skin with your finger and see if the flesh gives way underneath its most likely done if it's if it feels tender if it's too hot to touch you can always use a knife and stick the knife in the squash and if the knife goes through all the way then it's most likely ready to eat so let's just flip it over and if that beautiful caramelized flesh this guy is ready to be eaten and it looks amazing so you can just eat it as is or save it for later or you can make a salad turn it into a puree you could do anything with this squash and you can also use the same roasting technique for any other kind of hard winter squash which is great to do in the fall in the winter so enjoy your squash have fun and be creative you
