Please explain how to paint and replace rotors/ discs and calipers on vauxhall opel insignia

the brake callipers on my Vauxhall Insignia I've gone very rusty plus my disks need replacing so I thought I didn't find much information on the Internet I thought I'd do my own video I've already clamped off the bright line there because it's going to be easy to clean up the calipers off the car unbolted the caliper just going to take bottom off here and then that should slide out there we go and then I'll remove the pads because I'm replacing them anyway I'm going to replace the disc or the rotor if you're listening in America and then I'll be taking off this bracket here I'm going to clean that and paint it going to paint it all up to match the color of my car okay I've got the large bolts around the back these ones here one down the bottom there there I'm done now I'll take those out and that will allow me to take the brake pad frame off and what I need to do now is undo this locking not here which is a tox bit and just check it's a t30 so I've got in there undo it and the disc will just come straight off I'll go got that I'm done now so undo that by hand it's only just to hold it in place it's actually the wheel nuts that hold the actual disk onto the hub this is just so it doesn't fall off or move when you click your wheels off then I'm done there we go might be stuck on of it and because I'm replacing these anyway I can be a bit rough so breaks the seal and then that will come off with a bit of persuasion now go a bit of persuasion with a hammer and it comes off as you can see they definitely need replacing they've worn badly on the inside and out and the roll rusty so and we put in brand new discs which I have painted up to match the color of the car on the outside and on the inside of the rip rim and then I'm going to be cleaning up the caliper same colour as the car as well this will all get cleaned up around here that's what makes it difficult to come off because you can see the rust just there that's what makes them stick stick so want to put the new one back on I put a bit of copper grease just round there and then the next time I need to replace them it should be a lot easier now I got the brake caliper off the car got it in the bench it's going to be a lot easier to clean up in the bench and it will be on the car first thing I need to do is use this do I see it which is you see the fluid coming back out I need to push the piston back down because the new disks are obviously a lot thicker and also the new but plus what it's also going to do for me is push the seal further back so while I'm click it's going to able me to clean the caliper a lot better all I'll need to do is when I put the color back on put some fresh fluid in and bleed out the air I'll show you that when I get to it right that's pushed all the way down what I have got is just a bolt which is the same thread where the brake hose goes in I'm going to keep that in there because I don't want any dirt getting inside of the piston plus some also where the bleed nipple is here I'm going to cover that in tape so that I don't damage it I'll get any paint on it when I do actually get to that stage now that I've got all of the loose rust off with the wire brush in the grinder and my multi-tool it's not smooth it doesn't necessarily need to be it's a custom after all but it's loose so the pain will state but what you do have to do is give it a really good spray with brake cleaner to degrease it so otherwise your paint is just not going to stick very gonna fall now now that we've cleaned the brake caliper with the brake cleaner next thing to do is paint it with high temperature paint I've got this one Ivy Bates the same color as my car didn't want it to do in a bright color it's not a sports car I don't want to stand out I just want to make them look tidy so here we go you now that we've got the caliper paint it up I'm going to show you around this side looking pretty good and let that dry before I can put it back on the car in the meantime I will clean up the caliper bracket which holds it on to the hub which also holds in the brake pads and if you look here we have the spring clips here that stop the pads from rattling these are ones off the other side I've already cleaned up ready to go back in I'll not show you the full process because it's exactly the same as what I did on the caliper it's time for reassembly now I've cleaned up the dust guards on the back here I just give them a coat of black paint just to freshen them up and also around the hub painted copper grease all the way around the edges making sure you get it back there because that's usually where it sticks and lift the disk on they are quite heavy right these are primo discs and they were actually painted when I got them all down the inside of the because it's a twin disc it's painted in there and it was partially painted around the inner edge there because I've got the paint I thought I might as well paint it all the way to the edge because I don't want that big going rusty if I'm going to so much effort what I've got down here is the little grub screw that goes in there and that is what locks it back onto the hub turn that up a bit of thread lock on it as I said and that will stop it vibrating loose next thing reassembly of all the caliper reconnect the hoses and bleed out any air let's go into the system right final part of the process is reassembling fitment of the brake pads I've got these anti-vibration spring clips here and I need to do fit them in there what I'm going to do first a little bit of grease on them and then to make sure that they do move about which they do need to do not watch just brush a bit on and that just stops many squeaks put those in the same at the top not much or it does make a difference by the cop agree support on the front of this browser stops you alloy wheels from sticking onto them if that employees go alright the pod inner and outer the one with the tab that goes to you know side where the piston is the one without goes to the outside say him again put a bit of puff grease on there this will help and work a lot better has to be copper grease because it's the only thing that will stand up to the temperature of the breaks slot them in it should be a snug fit we go say inside this one's all around the middle because that's where the piston pushes these are just a single piston caliper yeah I've already pushed the piston back on the caliper so all fits on top nice and neat I've got some spread lock bit on there we'll put the bolts back in one at the top get it in loose first Sam again or the one bottom yeah you need a 17 mil and a 14 or 17 on the inner lock nut 14 on the actual bolt tighten those up working go the next job will be bleeding the braces because I've heard the calipers off get any air out the system shouldn't be a lot because I had the Clint crimp on the pipe right at the end and then good to go get the wheels back on and try the brake zone final part the process bleeding the air out the system and I've got my Tim mill spanner on here I've got my bleed valve and which has got a non-return on the end so that when you push the air out it doesn't go back in I've got somebody in the car with the foot on the pedal so you just have to loosen it off you see the bubbles going through and into the can and if we lift off the pedal and press down again it's looking pretty good doesn't seem to be much air in that system and again this is the fluid getting through we're not getting any bubbles once more and keep it down actually one more just got a bubble there okay when we turn it back up okay release the brake press down again the pedal feel quite hard to press say it don't do the same on the other side and that's it finished wheels back on ok I'm around the other side of the car now last part is it bleeding the brakes one thing I haven't mentioned yet is the brake reservoir obviously bleeding out the air that's got to be replaced by fluid and you need to make sure that that's top top to the maximum level my car needs dot for which I think most modern cars do and just make sure that that stays full but not over full obviously all right thanks for watching guys subscribe keep your eyes out for more videos
