hi guys it's Lynne here and this is my amazing fiance Hans hahaha and today guys we're going to show you how you can propagate opuntia from cuttings and we thought this would be a good opportunity because we pruning one of our Ponty errs here and repotting it so I'm also going to have a repotting video and while we pruning the stems off to make it look a bit more attractive and also make the plant healthier homes are going to show you how to take the cuttings and also we do believe in the youngster pads or the no pails as they call up onto your pads a few days to callus over and then going to be potting them up and show you how you can propagate puntilla it's very very easy easy guys and now if you're not familiar with homes then where have you been on my channel hahahaha now Hans has his own channel as well called family cactus II and other beauties dedicated to cactus and succulents and also other beauties on there and gardening so please do subscribe in guide links up above these amazing channel so you must go over and check out his wonderful video to has some beautiful slideshow of cacti on there the flowers and also lots of helpful videos as well on there so I'm that's fantastic so let's get going shall we guys haha Lissie died right here and the pedal is growing in the wrong direction what I think because it want to go up and is going down so why that because this knot we cut it and we have absolutely a new plant because we use it so bad and here we have something we can look at goody-goody buddy what shall we say about this yeah hey I think I take this one as well we have a beautiful part here for you haha three very little for seriously terre depends on official let it be like that no I think it's data to going on here we have to take this first here is one because we can take as well pull a new plant great difficulty to problem zero order marriages pruning them the countries can go grab a and really not only does it make the plant look more attractive but time it also helps the plant to be healthier and lay off the cutting say it the joy when you prune you'll let the route be bigger presenter and let me give a kick to the plant because we don't ever prove the roots so they be in talking and now we have hey we have cooking hey guys guys that's really easy and then obviously what we do then you let them buy a few plants we let them callous over to Shane here a few days I think it tastes because the join is only small it probably only taken a few days to form a white callus and then obviously then we're going to be passing them up into new pots and soil so um we're gonna let these colors over for a few days and then we're going to get part in now guys obviously once you've cut the pads off you can even let them kill us over which you need to do anyway on their own or you can use a bit of rooting powder that helps to prevent any fungal attack in the ends and also helps to help it to callus over a bit quicker now guys we've bled the opuntia pubs callus over for good few days and their forms a thick callus right the very very end and obviously put the rooting hormone on as well which is going to help and what we've done we've made a mixture of the soil which we use a loan based compost mix it with a bit of extra polite for bigger extra drainage and we're going to be showing you how to how to insert it into the soil and the depth as well to get them to root so let's get going shall we guys now I'm obviously pretty deeply in luck with some cuttings where they only just search the surface with a puntilla put it well deep into it and then obviously it's going to be sending out roots from the aerials as well as down the bottom where it's being cut as well and again you want it to a good couple of inches deep into the opuntia pad and then obviously putting the soil all around the edges and tapping it around as hundreds doing their hahaha so it all goes down all the the sides of the pot and so that's wonderful and then what we going to be doing there needs obviously as with all cuttings because you hasn't got moves yet we're not going to give it tons of water she's going to give it a very light water in a bit of a spray keep do encourage the the plenty of pod to send out roots and you'll know when it starts to fall roots when you start to see new growth coming from the top then it's a good indication that it's rooted and again rooting can take anything from a couple of weeks to a couple of months or longer so a patient sees our key guys and we're going to be keeping this in a sunny spot but away from very strong intense sunlight because obviously hasn't got boots in this case we're going to be putting it into our into the conservatory on the windows here where it gets some Sun but not strong strong Sun in the spot and as I say we're going to be spraying it a bit of a water to encourage it to send out roots and it's a very giddy or nice bit yes it is Anna puntilla burger we are a yes yes the red bloomer so hopefully we should see flowers on these hoe please never flowered yet but so fingers crossed it will flower for soon so guys meet Hans want to send you loads alert heaps of happiness and tons and tons of cactus power as always from Island until the next video guys
