welcome back guys this is Cody with Wrangler star I'm going to share something with you today it's kind of interesting we're getting ready to pour the concrete inside the shop that is just a regular pole barred building we had it only had half the concrete poured we're going to finish up the rest now so we spent the last couple days just doing the grading and putting the rock in one thing I noticed when I started shooting elevations is some of the poles are sagging apparently they weren't put in correctly it doesn't have they don't have a very good foundation and so we're going to do something about it so I'm just getting ready to fix that and I'll share it with you is kind of interesting I don't know if you're going to be able to see in the camera or not but a pole barn construction what it is is you see you have all these big poles pressure-treated six by sixes those are buried in the ground and they support the trusses and carry the roof load so what's happening and you might be able to see in this photo fight where you at the camera right correctly is what I've noticed is that these purlins you can see it's starting to run downhill just a little bit this one also just running down these should be horizontal perfectly level and what that's telling me is that these these posts because the snow load have began to sink a little bit and I only see two of them that are causing a problem so over here right now I'll show you what we're doing to fix that okay right here is the worst Pole and or post and what we've got to do is I've got to raise this thing up about two two-and-a-half inches and so I put down a big looks like a six by ten here I've got a twenty ton jack off my press and I've got a launch bowl I don't we cut down and what I'm going to do I'll show you on the top end up here against the roof truss I've mounted a six by six and so what we're going to do is a theory is to Jack this thing up and hopefully it'll raise it up and then we'll dig down and we'll pour a little concrete pad in this and secure it the way it should have been done originally beginning and cracking settling but I wasn't really sure if this was going to work when I first did it I'm really surprised how easily that's coming out of the ground do it so here's how we're going to fix this I'm going to take these big spikes here like you see and we're going to drive them down inside the post and then pour some concrete around dig down a couple feet on the post that we just jacked up and we'll drive some of those big spikes in the side there and then we'll fill that up with concrete and that will secure that and keep that from coming down to any further and then to keep the rest of the posts from sagging like these over here as you can see we've got the gravel all prepped and ready for concrete we'll drive some of those baek's bikes right at the ground level and the concrete will set around them and that will prevent these posts from dropping any further and the problem will be solved okay there's one of the first of our spikes in those will pour concrete around them and those will help to prevent that give it a bigger footprint help it from keep it from settling anymore four bags of concrete how to do the trick putting old spikes in we put two or four ninety pound bags of concrete in here and when you do in concrete small bats and stuff make sure you shake a stick or a rod and really chunk that in there you'll get a lot of voids in concrete so get pocket in it and by doing this we'll bring it all to the top so whenever you do a small horrible pad or whatever make sure you you really chunk it in good so we'll let this sit for 48 hours or so well I'll take the jack off and this will support this post until we get this lab in it doesn't have to hold it very long just long enough for me to get the jack out once we put once we pour four four four inches of concrete here what I'll do is I'll put some two by sixes on the side bolt them through so those will sit on the slab itself giving it even more strength and preventing it from sinking any further I'll also do that on all the rest of them so we don't have any more settling problems I'm suspecting that whoever installed this pull barn they probably just threw a couple shovels of gravel in the bottom it didn't put any concrete and up here where we're at we have so much thawing and freezing that the soil really heaves up and down a lot that's why it's really important to secure these so we protect the integrity of our pool building here so that's it and I'd share that with you and hopefully next video will be towards a mud dull ceiling you
