hello welcome to the cooking school at urban Street in Atlanta Georgia my name is sandy how-to show and today we are going to make a peppermint buttercream frosting we're gonna start with a classic buttercream frosting that is made from solid Crisco some butter confectioner sugar some heavy cream pinch of salt but we're not going to use vanilla today because we want to make it peppermint the simple solution rather obvious is to just add peppermint extract I have a different idea I've taken 16 of these peppermint candies and run them through the food processor and created a nice pretty powder okay there's some texture in there it's not terribly fine and that's what we want some interest right why 16 candies 16 is a magic number and cooking 16 tablespoons to a cup to 16 cups to a gallon okay we're gonna add just a couple of tablespoons to our buttercream and stir that in the smaller crystals are going to dissolve into the buttercream but they'll still be some texture when we're done the larger pieces you still find when you frost your cake or cupcake whatever it is you're gonna do with this you'll have a great minty flavor a little pretty pink going on in there I said and some texture so it's interesting and delicious thanks for visiting us we'll see you again soon bye bye you
