Please explain how to size your dog for a dog collar | dublin dog collars

hi I'm Scott with the dog outdoors in today's video we're going to take a look at how to appropriately measure your dog for a collar and since all collars are a little bit different we're going to look at how to measure for the particular collars that we carry here at the dog outdoors we're going to make sure it's as easy for you as possible to get the right size collar that's gonna fit your dog perfectly the first time around so I'm going to show you how to measure the collar and then tell you how you can go and pick the right color based on the sizing charts that are on our site so what you're going to need is something to measure your dog with I've got a flexible tape measure here which is the the easiest or if you don't have one of these you can use a piece of string your rope even your dog's leash to measure with and of course your dog so what you're going to want to do is you're gonna get your dog sitting or standing and try to get them to stay as still as possible take your tape measure or leash or whatever you're gonna use to measure with and you wanna go ahead and measure around about where you want the collar to sit on your dog so belt a little below mid neck area is where I like to measure from hold on Parker stay still so you measure around the circumference and you don't want to pull it real tight but you don't want there to be any slack either so just pull it together where there's no slack it's not loose and measure that point looks like Parker's right about oh it looks like a little over 17 okay so once you've got your dog's neck measurement go ahead note that an on piece of paper and go back to the webpage the collar that you're interested in and look for the sizing chart information and what you're gonna see there is the different size collars that we have available and there will be a neck range that each collar fits now in the case of the doubler dog collars we've got this really cool option that you can actually go download a paper version of the collar it's an exact replica of the size and so you can try to actually try it on your dog before you buy the collar so you know exactly how it's gonna fit on your dog before before you get it there's no guessing involved so it's really neat I'm hoping to get this something like this set up for all the different colors in the near future but this is what it looks like be sure to read the instructions you want to make sure not to print a 100% under your printer you don't want to change the the scale at all and you want to make sure to read the instructions at the top because what it's going to tell you to do is go ahead and cut out the different shapes of the collars and what you want to do is make sure you overlap the numbers together so the one overlaps with the other one on the medium you don't want to just have them touching together you want to overlap them and go ahead and tape them and you tape them together and you've got yourself a medium-sized Dublin dog collar or a small size Dublin dog collar or the large size Dublin dog collar so remember just overlap the numbers together and then tape them try it around your dog's neck and it's going to give you an exact idea of how the collar is gonna fit your dog once you get it so in Parkers case remember he was a little bit over 17 inches so I went ahead and chose the size large and as you can see Parker here Parker come on buddy alright buddy come on come on the size large it's gonna fit him perfectly a little bit a little bit of wiggle room under there you can stick a couple of fingers that's not too tight you can grab and Feeney too and these colors look really sharp as you can tell okay so I hope this video is helpful in picking the right size collar for your dog remember if it for some reason you can accidentally get the the wrong size collar exchanges are super easy with the dog outdoors so just email me and we'll get the right size collar out to you as soon as possible thanks a lot
