So were you just recently prescribed by your
general dentist on wearing your night guard but you are just unsure on exactly how to
wear it? My name is Michelle and I'm a dental assistant with Solutionz and I'm going to
explain to you on how you can wear your night guard. It is pretty much easy depending on
the night guard that your dentist prescribed whether it is a hard night guard, a medium
night guard or a soft night guard is determined on how to wear it. Usually with the hard night
guards it actually locks your upper and your lower teeth into place so therefore you cannot
grind back and forth whenever you are sleeping. A medium sized night guard is similar to the
hard but it is not as thick or bulky and then the soft night guard is very pliable and it
looks similar to this. It moves easily. It has a lot of flexibility to it but if you
do have to wear a hard night guard you would just place it in your mouth and then you would
actually bite down on your back teeth so therefore your upper and lower back teeth will kind
of click into place and then that will prevent you from grinding and then you just wear it
for the recommended time as far as eight hours or while you are sleeping or whatever your
dentist prescribes to you and then you just take it out in the morning. Of course just
give it a good brush with your toothbrush and toothpaste to kind of keep it clean and
then proceed throughout your day but depending on what type of night guard you have been
prescribed for then you would just wear it according to what your dentist recommended.
Once again my name is Michelle and I'm a dental assistant with Solutionz and I just explained
to you on how you can wear your night guard.
