okay i'm going to show you how to do a chain stitch so i bring my thread up from the back and i'm going to reinsert it right next to where i came up and take a small stitch forward you can see my needle is going right through that loop and that creates the first chain stitch i'm going to create a loop again with my thumb and go right back in inside that first stitch right toward the edge of it and make another small stitch try to make them evenly spaced so it'll be all about the same size and that's another chain stitch and again i'm going to go right back in through the loop of the first stitch make another small one about the same size bring my needle up you can see i'm inside of the thread here and that makes another little chain stitch i'm just going to keep on going outlining the eye of my owl
