it's robert studer from survival central uh today i thought i'd show you uh the ikea hobo stove now this is gonna be my version if you google ikea hobo stove you'll see a lot of different search results and people's different versions of this but uh for my viewers i thought i'd show them uh how it was made and how to do it now as you can see there's this is just made out of an ikea stainless steel strainer there's two different sizes here these ones here right here retail for about six dollars and these ones for about eight now you don't have to go with the ikea stainless steel uh version there are other brands like star fret and i they i think they go for about 11 to 12 dollars a slightly different design but just make sure that it's stainless steel that you're using not aluminum aluminum will melt so just uh do make sure that it's stainless steel so basically all i'm gonna do is use this dremel we're gonna cut some holes in there here uh open up the spacing for uh some wood and so there we go these uh i'm going to choose the smaller one today and i've already gone ahead and marked where i'm going to cut with the dremel now you don't have to do any fancy design i just fancied it up a little bit but you can cut out just as long as you have enough some people go all the way up and just just experiment just uh depends on how you want it to look so this is my design anyways and then what we're going to do is we're going to add the bolts to the bottom after we're done cutting it out and then we're going to give it a test so i'm just going to cut this up now i'm just going to put the bolts on the bottom that's so it gives it a little bit of stand so it the airflow can get underneath so it increases the combustion rate of the wood that you're going to be putting in here so i'm just bought some standard bolts that would fit the holes here i will provide all the materials for this on the website spellcenter.net as well as the youtube description below and you can also find this on instructables.com anyways we're just going to put the bolts in and then we're going to fire up and see how uh we got a pretty good fire going here so i'm just going to put this pot on so we'll just put this pot of water on see how long it takes to boil there see it starting see it's starting to boil i'm just going to stop it there because my fire's done i don't have any more sticks to stoke it up anymore but there you go there you have it it took about five minutes for the water to boil it's a great little project uh total cost about ten dollars great little wood stove for your bug out bag or just if you're going to be using it for camping that way you're not relying on alternate sources of fuel to cook with like alcohol or propane you've got an abundance of fuel just uh with wood fleet project visit us at survivalcentral.net and you will also see this video obviously on youtube and please follow us on facebook and twitter and visit our new online store at survivalcentral.ca until next time it's robert studer signing off be prepared stay safe and survive thank you for watching
