hi in this video we're going to discuss how to launder your down comforter now I like to bring my comforter to a laundromat the reason is not to washing so much but the drivers or dryers have a larger drum and so it makes a drying process a little bit easier it's really quite simple you can send these to a dry cleaner but dry cleaning is really hard on the cotton and in the down itself and the chemicals used in that you're sleeping next to your face literally every night you know for years and years and years so with that to the washing machine into a laundromat now I like to use the front loaders like this they clean a little bit better and they're a little easier on the fabric itself okay so we're loaded okay so we've started I'm going to add my detergent now every down manufacture including us indicate you shouldn't use bleach however I use it the bleach is really hard on the cotton really hard on it down but the reality is is bedding gets dust mites bleach will kill the dust mites and I'd rather lose a little bit of life at the end of the comforter as opposed to sleeping with dust mites for the next ten years so now time to grab yourself maybe a glass of wine and get to know some of the local regulars see in a few minutes okay washings done what table we're going to do is take this out immediately you're going to notice how flat it is when it down gets wet it just kind of flattens right out clumps together not to worry as soon as we get it dried it will fluff right back to its original size and wanted to indicate we've got a couple other videos that you might be interested in we prepared one on how to easily determine when it's time to replace your down comforter and when you're washing it it's a good time to kind of do that inspection because they do wear out so if you're watching us um on our website you can simply scroll down to find that link if you're watching us on YouTube click the annotation here and we've also prepared two other videos that you might have interested in as well one how to clean a pillow that link can be found below on the website or in this annotation and how to easily stuff the down comforter once again on our website scroll down you'll find those links and click the annotation to find right here on YouTube to watch those videos but right now it's off to the extractor we're going to take a little bit more water out of this before we put it in the dryer see you in a minute okay we have two extractor again just a high-speed spinner so let's put this in in a minute or two we'll have a taking a couple more cups of water out of this it's going to make the drying process a whole lot faster okay the extraction is done we're going to take this now over to the dryer drives the trickier part not to that too involved but just a little bit more complicated in Washington see in a second all right as I stated earlier the reason I like to come to a laundromat for this is the drums of the dryer significantly larger than then most dryers at home and again this allows the down to tumble a little bit better in Drive more thoroughly and in a shorter period of time so into the dryer medium heat throw a few quarters in here and we've got some next steps and let this go a little bit and we'll be back to you in a minute show you what we do next okay now this is the important part the comforters been in the dryer here for about 15 minutes or so it's starting to fluff back up starting to look like it's dry but what happens is this turns the outside of this because this is such a large piece the outside is getting dry well the inside is still a little bit damp so what we want to do is take it out and just reorient ate it another thing you might find is it all in the compartments if the Downs kind of clumped up a little bit just kind of massage it a little bit shake it around move it so that it you know will dry a little bit more effectively so we've reorient ated it put it back in we'll give it about another 10 minutes you do want to make sure they're nice and dry because it's a natural fiber and if it's damp after a couple of days it will start to mildew and rot well we'll see you in a couple of seconds okay I think we're done and have a look and again what you want to do is kind of just you know overall inspect all the compartments just to make sure that they've all properly dried simple fluff like this and this one certainly is nice and dry throughout notice how much down comforter I have again it's all fluffed back to its original shape now it's time to take it home put it on the bed and put the duvet cover over the top of it as I stated earlier I have an informal video that you can find on our web page to scroll down a little bit or click on this annotation and it's how to easily stuff a down comforter in into a duvet cover hope you are take a look at that hope you've enjoyed the video please feel free to call us if you have any betting related questions again thank you
